The filth jumped us kicking 4 goals in the first quarter. They then only kicked 5.4 for the rest of the night.
Hopefully GWS kick into gear and can run over them with some straight kicking.

Cement head just let Maynard know that he shouldn’t be playing.

I don’t know why fifty isn’t called when the filth hold the player up trying to get the ball back to the free receiver.

[censored] me. Why the late call? The hold was clear as day and the play had continued.
Again cheating umpires.- 1

It’s a full house. The collingwood player worth the ball goes off his line. The umpire calls play on. The players had no idea cause the umpire whispered the call like a 3 month baby was sleeping in the next room. Cheats

My kingdom to see Maynard smothered in a cracking bone crunching footy act tonight.
Oh how good would a clumsy coked up Mumford hit on Maynard be (footy act or not)

I think Rohan Connolly is an outstanding footy journo. He provides a sense of real balance in his latest piece for ESPN.
Interesting stat of how many have lost the semi since 2013. Wonder the correlation between straight sets and the pre finals bye introduced in 2016???

To say the season is a waste is wrong. JVR alone made it worthwhile. The defensive game plan fails if you don’t covert. Bad kicking can’t be underestimated as a cause of the loss. It hurt but reviewed the last quarter. Two decision were particularly appalling. Sparrow legitimately tackles a guy over boundary and then is attacked. Tries to protect himself and is pinged. Example one of complete lack of game awareness by the umpire. TMac jumps over a player and is pinged by umpire 22 incredible decision. He then yells at Clarry who clearly doesn’t hear him and give 50. Example two there 96000 people screaming and it does not occur to that primped up little xxxx he might not have heard him. Cost us a chance at goal and led to Carltank second last goal.
There are numerous examples of poor umpiring. The one that got me at the game was again Umpire 22 - Nathan Williamson late in the 3rd quarter.
Apologies for the quality - but I have circled him, the ball and Pittonet engaging and taking Gawn out of the marking contest. (The telecast vision was poor but the umpires vision of it was not!!)
I was filthy as I was row G just left of umpire 22. I could see both the free and the umpire and couldn’t believe the none decision. Even the scumbag Carlton fans were agreeing in the next bay that they got away with one.
I know Gawn has put some mayo on by flopping a bit in the past but then he is also taken high, held, arm chopped, bumped, shepherded and impeded without receiving a free for what is blatantly a free in every game. He must have his photo displayed next to Ginnivan and Greene at umpires HQ. How can we address this as it’s a small contributing factor to both finals losses? Will the club address this? How do we get this in the media like the filth with Ginnivan? Also, I read elsewhere that semi final weekend they have previously rested the best umpires so they’re fresh for prelim and GF. Isn’t that what one of the reasons of bringing in 4 field umpires was trying to address? Why go substandard when the best is available? Surely the week off before finals is enough (yeah they run a lot but they don’t take big hits) to not need another break so soon.

Could someone please explain how the review of Alex Neal-Bullen’s “non goal” worked?
It was paid as a goal. The ball was taken to the centre and then a review took place in which it was deemed to have been touched after a quick review. I thought it was inconclusive.
It was only shown once at the game and whilst I was a long way away from the screen it did look touched.
But like others haven’t watched replay to see if it was conclusive or not.

All goals are reviewed now but it must be conclusive to overturn. My wife pointed out to me on Friday how easy it is to wiggle your finger when you stick your hand out. Bet that starts to be trained into players.

Goody in his press conference mentioned that the club will look at ways to be better. What is your take on this?

I think it’s fair to highlight that our forward line was decimated by injuries. But I also think it highlights our list inadequacies when the 2 most important injuries to our forwards were to a guy who played most of the season in the back pocket, and another bloke whose 32.
We simply need to get 2 more forwards in, and one of them needs to be a marking target. Good luck with that task. 10 other clubs need the same thing.
I’d love to see Naughton in our jumper next year. Not the best kick but suits or dump kick in style as he contests hard.
Naughton, JVR, smith, Pickett, ANB and chandler/spargo/anyone else who pinch hits (trac, Petty or resting ruck)
That should scare and stretch defenses.

That's my point as soon as he started playing well he was dropped.
Played their song in the car on the way home. Was a great rendition. Let’s hope they can shove it up the others left.
Their style is finals worthy and list healthy. Hopefully this is their year now.

We were in both finals up to our eyeballs. A few players had stage freight but then again a lot of best 22 were forced to watch from the sidelines through injury. Petty brayshaw melksham all improve the team.
I know I hark on about umpiring but I couldn’t believe Max wasn’t (in the umpires eyes) impeded in the forward pocket late in the third. So many soft ones their way that actually impacted. Very frustrating.
if any Melbourne fan was denied a ticket from the wonderful people at ticketek then please request an inquiry because we were severely outnumbered. Not sure if was the injustice from tribunal, the pending straight sets or the cost of living crisis but we fans need to support the team better.
Lastly our draft hand is impeccable this year. Do we get a gun midfielder for the next 10-15 years or do we look to bolster ruck, defence or forward line? Either way, a gun player will be walking through the door with a team prime for more finals.
I’ll watch the replay and make a more informed decision on the performance. But from the pocket of the Olympic stand we so could have been the victors. Chin up. Come back hard next year.

Nathan Williamson is not worthy of a final. Umpire 22. No respect to Gawn who was impeded something chronic in the forward pocket.
