Maybe we can book Tracc a session with Shane Woewodins hairdresser. His tips can turn a player into a Brownlow Medalist overnight.

John Demonic replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
2 goals to Baker eh? How did he play overall? -

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
John Demonic replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd prefer Wagner piggybacking Lewis. Then we've got young legs mixed with seasoned football iq -

If we're focusing on individual moments, how about getting the free kick marking infringement in front of Roughead with 6mins to go, or his diving mark from the Jaeger inside 50 entry after the Bruess goal with 5 mins to go? That's two inside 50's repelled. And both of his free kicks found targets in Gawn & Hibberd. -
You gave me nothing. Do you think we should pursue Ed Langdon? If so, what would you trade for him? If not, then yes, moving on.
-
Harmes absolutely would be traded if the price was right, i think you're incorrect. The question i'm answering is Langdon vs Harmes. I'd take Langdon and that's the trade it would take to get him right now. They wouldnt take our 2nd round pick imo. And I wouldn't trade Salem for Langdon. We have too many similar mids, hence the need to 'diversify'

This is what the Adelaide power stance was missing ?

The club should do some Mongolian throat singing together to increase their lung capacity. ?

Then where would the whingers who whinge about whingeing whinge?

And an additional point is that our first round pick should also come straight into the midfield.
-
You have to give something to get something, and i think Harmes is the most likely player to have reached his peak value out of our mids, whereas the rest have a far higher ceiling and will get better as runners. Our core inside mids can be surrounded by better runners than Harmes and they will flourish even more. Petracca is the only other player i think that has collateral, and his ceiling is far too high for the next few years before a trade is even thinkable for a player like Langdon who's more your pick 15-20 player.
-
If Oliver, Brayshaw & Viney are off limits, then the player we should be looking at trading is Harmes. If we want to inject pace into this club, then we have to shed one of our mids. Edit: His ascension as a player was the biggest surprise last year, which to me also means his value is at a high point and will probably come back down soon enough. Ross Lyon will probably be licking his lips over a tagger too.

Off on a tangent, but Collingwood are so stacked right now they're dropping Varcoe despite him being a gun. Really wish we'd gotten him for Clarke, instead of Lamumba. He'd be a handy player to have in the team covering the ground. Exact player we need.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
John Demonic replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Slobbo reckons NM should trade Ben Brown as well as Higgins and re-build with top draft picks. Is Ben Brown worth our first round pick? I'm going to say that pick 1-3 would be off-limits. If we won a few games, you'd surely trade a pick 6-10 or so for him. Edit: Or the alternative question is which player would we trade to acquire BB or a pick for him. -
Let's hope so. I really hope Goody is now beyond playing Weid all year for development irrespective of form and pitting T. Smith vs Keilty for that spot this week.

Shame on anyone that boo'd a hot dog eating contest champion -
We're the Greater Western Melbourne Demons, and we're bigger than the rest and we will never surrender we'll fight until the end, we're greater than the restttttt da da da daaaa dada

I think we should be more desperate to take a low risk punt on an experienced key forward if we can't get ourselves in order by the end of the year, than to recruit another casey vfl depth player.
-
This is a persistent opinion, but it seems like low hanging fruit to me. Surely there is more strings to his bow than this often remarked comment about goals out the back. 278 goals from 140 games has to account for something surely? Edit: He monstered Rance too so he has shown ability as a key forward, maybe he just needs a fresh start?

Matt Lloyd mentioned us as one of 5 clubs that should be enquiring about Jenkins for next year. Justification was that Jenkins having been omitted and behind Himmelberg, missed out on some confidence boosting matches against GCS & St Kilda that got their forwards back into some form and if he's not being selected, then he should look at another club with key forward needs that would take him on. I personally would like to see how we function in the 2nd half of the year with our key backs hopefully returned and in form, which may give Tmac, Weid & Preuss some added confidence with more time together, before hunting another forward. However if Jenkins came cheap, he has the kind of imposing frame and perhaps some experience that could aid us next year. And a wake up call that he's only got a couple of years left to make an impact could see him put together a decent year or two.
