What they're saying down at Kardinia Park
Surprisingly good analysis by the Geelong supporters. Bang on.

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
This just stinks of a cover up... And of course it's Essendon at the thick of it.

What happens to the draft in 2020
Kind of off topic... Has it been officially confirmed that AFL lists will be reduced?? If so given we have so many players come out of contract we may be one of the only teams with cap room to offer J Cameron a deal he cannot refuse

Awesome slobbo... It's that or forfeit God I hate Essendon so much

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
I was about to post this.... I cannot see any Victorian teams being allowed to cross our borders up here without the 14 quarantine period. Palache (rightly so) has stood to her word through the entire pandemic and simply will not take any risks. It was all over the radio that all of greater Melbourne is considered a hot spot and anyone travelling from there (even if they are an essential worker) will be required to serve a mandatory 14 day quarantine.

Games are continuing as fixtured... Melb v ess will be made up "later in the year"

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
There is zero chance we play the game mid week this week. Barret, the AFL chief journo, who you think would have the inside word said the plan is for it to be made up later in the year once the next segment of fixtures are released. This is also assuming there are no further postive cases coming from the bombers. So yes the concern now falls to the bombers next two rounds as they will likely be in isolation. If the AFL and EFC somehow swindle a way to avoid isolation and there are no further cases then my guess is ESS v MELB will be the opening round for the next period of rounds on a Tuesday or a Wednesday with our next game being the following Monday or sunday. However I don't think this will happen, players and staff in close contact with Connor will be in isolation, the bombers will miss three games and [censored] knows what the plan is to fixture 3 games for them then. My bet is another player or official will test positive, the AFL will keep it underwraps until Saturday Arvo allowing Thursday-saturday games to proceed as normal bar the Essendon game. Gil to call a presser saying the season will be suspended for 2 weeks at the conclusion of the round (Sunday games to be completed) this will allow the hub teams to go home serve their quarantine period and they will slap together some new fixture for rounds 5-9.

Agreed, it is completely negligent and bone headed to allow any EFC player or staff member who has had contact with Conor skip a quarantine period for the sake of some TV $ and to tick another game off. Lives are at risk most players would have a vulnerable family member, they cannot be allowed to play. If that means call off the season so be it. If that means they have a plan to postpone essendons next three games and make them up later (good luck fixturing that) or allow the season to continue as fixtured with Essendon forfeitting.

Pretty simple really, you have a positive test, the player and anyone they came in contact with isolates for 14 days. Yes it would suck but health and safety comes above a game. I would have the exact same view if it was Spargo who came back as positive

If that's really the case, why isnt the protocol to wait until the test results come back before allowing anyone into the club.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/455279/barrett-random-fixture-on-cards-after-conor-s-covid-test Looks like we will just play our round 3 later in the year. With ess v Carl and us v Geelong to go ahead as normal next weekend. I'm sorry but this is complete BS. Yes there is ambiguity over when this irregular test came back but the fact is HE WAS at their club and in contact with staff and players after a irregular test. Be it for a training session or just for 20 minutes, he was there. This is essendons problem now, they will need to self isolate for 14 days (how can they not?!) Tough pill to swallow but for the comp and their fans but they need to forfeit until they can show clean tests on all players and staff 14 days from now. This would be a different story if they did the right thing and make Connor self isolate as soon as the irregular test came back. But they pushed the boundaries let him train (or hang out at the club for 20 minutes) potentially infecting many. Sorry Essendon you [censored] up again. Price you pay for incompetence.

I'm thinking the former to.... The negative press would be huge if there is another positive test which comes from the AFL.

Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
The book should be absolutely thrown at these flogs. How in their right mind could they let him train with the full group with an "irregular test" Seeing he has been in close contact with their entire list I cannot see how they can avoid a 14 quarantine. It'll either need to be the bombers forfeit their next 3 games and the season continues on for the rest of the comp. Or everyone is shut down.

TEAM: Rd 03 vs Essendon
I am pretty confident for this game and season. The way we played in the first half of last game emulated 2018 form which is something we never witnessed last year. We didn't just start well, we were slick, ruthless & clean. Yes the second half was really poor, but it really felt more like we stopped attacking and switched off rather than us getting smashed (unlike what we did to our opposition) it would be hard to put in a 4 quarter effort for any team which has been evident in all games given the lack of training and cohesion.

Interesting changes. Like all the players coming in, that would have to be one of the fastest MFC teams to grace the MCG.

Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
Uh..... The post you literally quoted mentions when Lever was flying.
-
Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
I think we are forgetting how good lever was in the rounds leading up to his ACL. May, Lever & Smith will take a few rounds to click I think.. Lever at his best is an absolute jet. I know the game was sloppy but we did manage to keep a team to 53 points, and nearly goaless for an entire half of footy. I would be more concerned about our forward line structure which needs another tall. We need to play weed, tmac and Jackson with tmac being the deepest forward.

NON MFC: Round 02
GC are up by 26 at 3 QTR time.... They are well and truly under the skin of WC. Rowell is an absolute beast. Loving seeing the Eagles flogs throw their heads around for free kicks and nothing coming

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
In kossie out ANB. ANB wasn't our worst but I think kossie will add more to the team. Goodwin spoke in an interview about being able to select from a full list but also wanting continuity. Don't expect big changes. Jetta, May, Lever, Smith will be better as weeks go on.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Carlton
Agree. We also got very stagnant when marking the ball between 80-100 metres from goal, many times we should have given off the hand pass run the 15 and drive the ball to 20 out or hit up the presenting forward rather than sitting the ball tmacs head 40 out from goal. Let's see if goody can work out that "connection" which has been lacking for 25 straight games now
