  1. I think Mitch White, Trengove and Clayton Oliver will be major beneficiaries of Melksham's absence. Grimes just makes too many blatant mistakes and will be given a chance, but push his way out of the side.
  2. Shockingly most people open up a thread to read about the subject topic and don't check threads 18 times a day to monitor every slight movement away from the topic at hand.
  3. I think we saw exactly what Selwood would have been like in a crappy team last season - he regularly lost his rag and was soundly beaten multiple times, notably by Viney in our win down there He has been great, but has had a significant advantage on others of similar quality.
  4. He was a strong candidate for a mini-draft pick prior to the leg break.
  5. I think that was wholly down to uncertainty as to how he would recover from an horrific broken leg.
  6. Is it? I don't wish for him to be forever known as a drugcheat (although it'll happen regardless) but I think it's highly likely he wouldn't have won that brownlow without the drugs.
  7. We essentially traded a 2015 2nd round pick for Melksham to come onto our list on a 3 year deal for 2017 season onwards, with the possibility of him coming across for an early bonus year in 2016. Doesn't sound like a horrible deal, especially remembering that you need to pay overs to bring in established talent from opposing clubs, and we sorely needed to increase our quality depth. Focusing on the opportunity, rather than what has been potentially lost.
  8. Hahaha how on earth could he not be?
  9. Yes, that much is obvious. But it is still what we'd be hoping for. To attempt to draw that parallel with Roos is futile, because he certainly won't be around long enough.
  10. Surely Goodwin would want to be drawing parallels with Smith, not Roos. lf we are to be dragged out of the mire and toward glory, he will be the one to do it. His appointment will determine our fate more than most. And I'm very happy that for the first year in many, I do not hope or expect our draftees to come in & play any significant role in 2016.
  11. Yep Cats built their list on the drafts of 99 & 01 and the Hawks built there's off 01 & 04. Absolutely nail 2 or 3 drafts with 7 or 8 core players and some bookends and you set yourselves up very well Often-missed is the 2006 draft; Selwood & Hawkins.
  12. I never wanted him in the first place.
  13. Is that a difference? I think most people thought the same.
  14. We all will. As if we were the only one who did.
  15. I've been convinced that Oliver is the best choice for us at 3, but what you said above is just silly. 180cm is perfectly fine.
  16. I think you're bang on, although he does sometimes find himself running into 50 in a lot of space and always seems to have a lot of time, giving the illusion that he is fast.
  17. You're right, but I couldn't be bothered editing it after I realised. Substitute for Jarryd Blair.
  18. Say what you like but Andrew Hooper is a STAR!
  19. This is where behaviour, character and attitude take precedence over pure talent at this early point of the draft.
  20. I thought it was a sarcastic assertion that Toumpas provided exactly what we'd be likely to receive from Parish, and your agreement. If not, that's fine. I think my point probably still stands about the contrast between the 2.
  21. There's a distinct difference though, between Parish & Toumpas. Toumpas is an outside runner, his bread & butter is getting on the end of handball receives and looseballs. The pressure has made him crumble and make poor decisions. Parish looks to win contested footy and uses it so quickly. He does the opposite of crumbling under the pressure; he anticipates it, makes quick decisions accordingly and EXECUTES. Even look at the highlights of the 2 pre-draft. Toumpas was running fast unattended on the wing, kicking long range goals. Nearly every "highlight" was a looseball get. I don't argue that he was a hard runner for us, but he never displayed a willingness to get involved in the hot contest as a junior. Parish mostly gets his footy in close in his highlights, moves quickly, makes quick decisions, absorbs pressure, hits targets without panicking. Big contrast to my eyes.
  22. Mick Turner's opinion of any falcons player should be wholeheartedly ignored. He invented hyperbole.
  23. Recovered from injury maybe, but returned to full fitness? It's not like the kid has just finished putting in a full preseason.
  24. Utterly reliable. Obviously.
