    Dont know if he's genuinely delusional and can't see the massive progress we've made, or if he just really has it in for this great club. Maybe he's trying to be controversial. Either way, what are all our thoughts on McLure? Seems like an irrelevant stubborn idiot. The kind of dinosaur who'd cut sick if his daughter brought home a boyfriend who wasn't white.

    I remember watching last years Fox Footy season predictions and Melbourne was predicted a couple times, possibly more, as wooden spooners. Was great scrolling through the list and seeing nothing but Bummers, Carlscum and Lions as finishing on the bottom. Until I saw this...

    I wonder then, apart from financially supporting the club, what the point is? Side note, the MFC dog collars you can buy are only for large dogs. How else can my small pet show that his heart beats true!

    Doesn't let up, does it? We convincingly beat a side who's the clear favorite to win, while Hawks get spanked by Richmond. Yet, there's still Hawthorn morons online paying out on Melbourne!! Seriously thinking Hawthorn may replace Collingwood as my most hated team, purely because of the obnoxiously arrogant supporters.

    I wouldn´t exactly call this subtle - "it's the emblem for you and for me" then following it up with something like (purely an example) "it's the emblem of the team we love, the team of the old MFC". To quote Malcolm Blight when Ox waved the ball in Carlscum´s face before booting a goal in 2000 prelim, ``I think it sucks!!!´´ I do agree with 1858 saying it should be left alone though. Any subtle change will be catastrophic. People will be confused by the new lyrics, it will sound shocking like all the new songs do post-fable (Port, GWS, Suns, ughhh..) and importantly like many have pointed out - flags were won with that song, you dont just change that. Its like changing the name of the club or the colours. And whats it all for? No one will hear the song and want to support the dees on that basis alone. People outside the AFL (from overseas etc) dont even get the theme songs and think they are cheesy. The way you love them is through repetition and hearing them when winning, useless as anyone at that point will clearly know exactly who this great club is.

    The other songs are shocking, they base their points around where they are from and how good at football they are (supposedly). No different to a rapper. Melbournes song doesn't need that, it works on sublte references "grand old flag" (oldest club) "high flying flag" (classy club / passionate supporters) it's the emblem for me and for you (it's an awesome club that I and you support / it's an awesome club that I support, and it seems like it'd be a good fit for you, if you haven't picked a team yet) It's the emblem of, the team we love (die hard passionate truth) The team of the RED and the BLUE (don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but it MIGHT be a nod of the hat to the club colours, just saying...) Every heart beats true for the RED and the BLUE (deep down everyone knows Melbourne is the best, reinforcing the passion with another sublte nod of the hat to the colours) Compared with everyone other jerks second rate anthem: "We are / we are from *insert club name* and we *generic metaphor for being good at footy*, We always win, you don't want to mess with us, we play in this area where are club is, something something no class, just make sure it rhymes with the tune we are basing the theme on" Less is more. Ours is much better, hope they never EVER change it

    I was hoping they played these matches on Fox Footy around the time Robbie passed away, so its good to see it on the air finally. There´s some good Robbie footage on YouTube but nowhere near enough full Melbourne matches from that period, just games from the 90´s. Hope someone uploads it soon. On a side note, does anyone know why there are no Garry Lyon highlights videos on YT? All I can find is ``Garry Lyon kicks an absolute belter´´ which is a decent torp goal, but the rest is either him hosting that AFL kids show, the training videos hosted by him and Matthew Lloyd or the large amount of absolute garbage clips from The Footy Show. There´s plenty of compilations of Jakovich (amazing), Ox, etc. thought theyd at least have a video of him booting 10 against the bulldogs.

    I heard that too, that's why this was so interesting to hear. The two hosts are comedians and joke all the way through, but there's clear gags made, it's not satire like Titus' writings. They were asking his perspective as a Dees supporter and they got talking about 'the past'.

    Wasn't satire. Missed a lot of these stories coz I'm new, only a "Rookie Demon". Senior DLer's like yourself should be filling me in and not doing the digital equivalent of eating McDonald's/getting drunk before game day.

    Listened to Titus O'Reily on latest episode of the Junktime AFL podcast. While it may be common knowledge to some, I was shocked when he spoke of rumors of just how bad the culture really was during Bailey/Neeld era. Talks of senior players constantly eating McDonald's, one player getting so drunk in China the night before exhibition game that he couldn't even play the next day. Had to make it 17 v 17. Also said when Roos got to MFC, he couldn't believe the team were actually AFL players - they were that unfit!! I knew it was bad, but I just thought that the FD and/or players were just really below par, but those stories of the example setting senior players being slobs just blew my mind. Anyone else got any other messed up behind the scenes tales of what went on?

    Getting the international digital membership. Includes the year long Watch AFL overseas pass for my phone - which I would have bought anyway, so it's pretty good value. I do wonder though if a big chunk goes directly to the AFL for the pass, or if the club just gets it all.
