  1. I hate the idea of losing Clarry. But is there some poetic justice if Clarry ends up playing like a champion for Collingwood while Trac hides out in GC playing in front of miniature crowds?
  2. Bing, the only damage is to his ego. If he’s not worth anything significant to GC then he’s not the brand he thinks he is. I’d imagine MFC will have no fear holding Trac if they don’t get the offer we want.
  3. Yeah. No way we said whatever Demon Forever is selling. They open the conversation on money, because then it’s a real conversation. Saying anything before is amateurish.
  4. If King can’t manage high maintenance players he’ll back to assistant coaching pretty quickly. He’d want to be getting something incredible back for both Oliver and Trac
  5. Sticking by Clarry might be the best thing Goody did. If Clarry leaves for nothing and tears it up for GWS, what does that say about King? I’m all in on King. Moving Trac if we get Humphreys, very smart. Moving on Clarry, I’m not so sure.
  6. Reckon the call Dimma is on is from AFL HQ telling him to make the Trac deal happen. Predicting this will blow up (not fizzle) and will be about money.
  7. Looks like a replacement No5 but can hit a target
  8. I love Clarry. I hope that we keep him and he gets back to his best.
  9. The real issue is getting Humphrey to want to come. It’s embarrassing that Oliver is on a boat while Trac is at Metricon and the beach for dinner. While we’re walking Humphrey around the tan. We need some game. Host him at Gawn’s place on the peninsula. Or take him to the MCG, surely we can get access. Get a photo of that out there.
  10. Getting Humphrey without giving our F1 isn’t “winning” the trade. It’s making a fair trade. Imv Trac for Humphrey is a straight swap deal, whatever is added on either side should be strategic points pick dealing that serves each side
  11. Overs! This is the Suns deal to make. They have what we’d accept for Trac. If they don’t close then Trac has to take the hit to his ego and get into AA form. Win win for us.
  12. Melbourne FC and Suns are very different clubs at very different stages
  13. Trac is an AFL star. If Suns refuse to trade Humphrey, that’s a choice and a rejection of Trac. And like any star it will be a shock to him. Having something to prove is a powerful motivator. King and Guerra will be more than happy to keep a motivated Trac. All that said. I’ve no doubt Suns will trade Humphrey in a heartbeat. It’s Humphrey agreeing to come to us that’s the issue.
  14. We can keep Trac. It’s simple. You tell him the Suns had the choice of you of Humphrey. They didn’t choose you.
  15. More like trading for Danger 6 years ago, while also having an expansion club desperately needing to build memberships while lacking star power. This for a young talent that’s behind a midfield that includes a Brownlow medal winner and the captain. The only thing blowing this up isn’t the Suns.
  16. Suns won’t give up Humphrey for picks. And very difficult to turn picks into a great player this draft. Curnow was their currency.
  17. Good money. Plus side deals the AFL will orchestrate to make Trac to Suns happen. I reckon the desperation to make this deal will be historic.

Have to say your instincts could be right Sam Mitchell, who (horrifyingly) I’d rate as the best coach in the AFL right now, don’t think he’d ever say “my midfield…” While I appreciate the tough standards. You’ll rarely get someone to do what you want by demanding it. There’s a balance and King is acting like an assistant trying to elevate his authority. I think he’s going to be wonderful, but I agree that wasn’t a good showing.
  19. He was dressed as Brad Pitt. Rankine getting four weeks didn’t achieve anything good. Clarry telling him to “f:)k off” is about the best handling of any AFL issue this year. Should be promoted. And imo isn’t going anywhere.
  20. Humphrey will come to us because the AFL want Trac at Gold Coast. Rowell isn’t selling memberships. But I agree, anyone who thinks our facilities aren’t a massive issue is bonkers.
  21. Absolutely. Arguably our best player. A proven finals winner. Norm Smith winner. Suns are in the window. Humphries and a top 10 pick and they get the champion that can take them there next year. Plus the AFL get a massive PR opportunity at an expansion club, the old AFL “ambassador role” will sort the contract offset.
  22. Haha. Max told him to stop complaining and the club didn’t immediately suspect he was seriously injured… what does that tell you about Trac? I love Trac, hoped he’d stay. But also somewhat glad he’s going, probably like most of the club.
  23. No doubt all the reasons we know. A few we don’t. And a few random factors like his girlfriend wants to live in Noosa. I feel like the club is well aware. And I’m betting on the Suns making it work. The AFL will move heaven to get him there. The club seems to be handling it well.
  24. Oh dear... While I’m here, can you tell Judd I have a bridge he might like to buy?
  25. If he wanted midfield Judd had opportunity at Melbourne because of his difference to Oliver, Viney, Langford. In joining a team of Brayshaw, Serong, Bolton, Erasmus… has no role. Even rolling back he’s behind Clark and Young. At best, he’ll find himself like Howe playing forward at Collingwood… and you know what Freo lack? A lockdown defender…
