  1. Only heard Jimmy Bartel recently talking up Menzel as wanting a multi year deal, that Geel are majorly low balling and only 1yr. It would seem there's a few Cats that aren't happy at the moment. Could be a spiteful exit, good terms for whomever wants to make a decent offer. He's injury prone obviously, but very good when firing.
  2. How do you even argue with this? MFC have shown him the door. Jack will nominate a club. Not much leverage. Pretty simple reality.
  3. Agree, it's a reasonable trade. Although doubt we'd get 20 from Geel. Watts' been seriously damaged in value and that's on the high side of estimates. However Geel have their own issues with Menzel, good player, great skills, could take 33 and Menzel? Balances the deal with Crows better and nets a good player. Ok- Menzel is FA. Ignore the above. Still a good player that could fill a role Watts had. More relevantly- how amazing to be the BIG trade headline. Lever is a big fish. We've arrived.
  4. I don't understand this post, are you saying this is actually happening?? Watts has been told to explore options, so surely he will nominate a club first. Only then could the club start even having preliminary discussions like this. Or are you saying he has nominated Sydney? Wouldn't that be an odd move at the same time as touring another club? I had originally thought Sydney would be his destination but Geel seem like a better fit to me and the media seem to think Port. Given Zac has been mentioned I can see how a hypothetical fan trade could be discussed in forums, but officially from the club, that would be very poor form all things considered.
  5. Clarry. So good to see that. Hibberd for sure should've been top three? Guess it's a midfield award as they say. Lewis is another two years, no? Seems good for it, for sure
  6. According to my mail, the afl site, he's off touring Geel today. Hearing JT speak last night, acknowledging their friendship, I am disappointed that Watts with all his talent doesn't seem to have the drive. Surely he doesn't lack for inspiration. Disappointed we cut JT even more than Watts actually. Sure Watts has the potential. But if it's about building culture and valuing application, then I'm lost.
  7. I believe the idea is to become this vision. Leave the sad alphabets behind
  8. Think his point was pretty clear. Good players both of them not performing at their best. You're pretty sure of your opinions on Watts, most people here are balanced about him having weaknesses and maybe those aren't good enough going forward. But you try way too hard to put him down to nothing. Something about being embarrassed in front of your mates? Maybe you should harden up!
  9. From a results point of view, we failed to meet the expectation (to make finals) so it would seem a fair assessment to not pass or fail his record as a coach yet. I wanted what Goodwin said he would get, the best of Jack Watts. However, he clearly can't make that happen. Roos showed Jack could be coached, said trading him would be a mistake. Not only is Goodwin saying he's unable to coach a player with immense talent, but he's also giving him up for nothing.
  10. Can't seriously rank players like this, Brayshaw on potential? Lewis ignoring his age? NB after one ok season? Aside from the fact all are players with completely different attributes.
  11. Geel have 20 and 33 picks. Probably the latter. No players of any worth likely to trade over. It would be a great move for Jack probably. They've had mixed results in trades.. cough.. Mitch... but more recently with Henderson and Tuohy, have been solid.
  12. If that's the outcome they wanted then at least Jones should've been saying how important Jack is and how he wants him to stay. The messaging has been toxic. It would be embarrassing for Watts to stay now. Perhaps we'll see a lot of back-pedalling tonight?
  13. We'd be lucky to get 29 for him. Can't make him stay after the "explore options" message. While at the same time certainly not enhancing his trade value. From the outside it would seem like moronic work... Maybe they'll be a twist
  14. I'm watching that v Coll goal, again. Amazing when you think what Danger said about Watts being one of the games best finishes, "when he has the ball inside 50 you back him in" (Trac knew it too) Hope he goes to Geel.
  15. To Simon Goodwin, this is a fail. When Hogan is frustrated at poor delivery, I hope he mentions this amazing 'ruthless culture' that you love when he trades back to WA. And when Petraccattack is crying about Trac leaving for better $$, sure great job. Genius culture building. But more so, Watts will be playing finals at Geel or Syd and we'll still be hearing about the 'heartless players' on our list. Good job sending a guy away that was so passionate about the club he was still pitching himself to stay, even when everyone else already knew the door had been closed.
  16. Best football moment of 2017 I love that Trac knew Watts was going for goal first. Jones and Bugg are still calling for the pass.
  17. Livid too. Mistake will be proven next year. Originally sure it would be Sydney, but he'd be a perfect fit for Geel. Don't see him at Port or Saints.
  18. So sad to see him go too. Well said. Expecting to hear about Hogan's poor body language when nobody can deliver him the ball next year. At least the HUN is doing their part to restore SOME trade value back into Jack: But this is the beauty of Watts. According to Champion Data, the 153-gamer was the second-best kick inside 50m in the competition over the past two seasons. You can picture Charlie Dixon or Tom Hawkins licking their lips.
  19. Geelong makes sense to look at Watts, looks like Stringer off to Ess. They're throwing away a 40 goal+ player in Menzel... I still think Watts will go to Sydney. But if Geel... Definitely wouldn't take Stanley. Thurlow is good but we have Hibberd, Hunt. I'd take Menzel and Bliclavs.
  20. Watts is gone and Pederson will be 31 at the start of '18 season. Bliclavs is 4 years younger and his running capacity is a weapon.
  21. I guess I'm one of those questioning Goodwin. Firstly his record doesn't yet count, he has a young list of extremely talented players handed over from a highly respected coach. He wasn't handed a basket-case. Going backwards was out of the question. More so, I don't see Goodwin 'taking a stand' is smart coaching. I agree with Roos: "you can't always harp on a players weakness, some players improve when you encourage their strengths". Goodwin has his issues with Jack "not jumping at the ball" dropping him to develop his contested game. Jones is a contested machine and doesn't understand how it's not in Jack's instinct. But, again Roos, "you can't have a team of all Viney's". Goodwin might become a great coach. Watts is gone. I suspect this will prove a "mistake" (Roos). I'm now interested to see if Goodwin learns his own lesson. Jack will be fine.
  22. I also think Bliclavs was the most damaged by the 'no third man up' rule. He was a solid midfielder with a huge tank that would add real advantage at the taps, I believe he even won their B&F only a couple of years ago.
  23. And the QB goal. Best football moment of 2017. I completely agree with you. But he's gone. Sydney premieres 2018. Watts sealer.
  24. Surely the Kent for Balic trade has been mentioned plenty here. Granted it's not the most exciting trade. I had Kent in best 22 at the start of this year, still think he and Frost have more impact potential than the guys holding them out (OMac and Hannan?) Would keep Kent.
  25. Clearly the Mfc did an abysmal job of trading out Watts. I'd put money on Sydney with a second rounder coming back, if Sydney are generous. I can imagine there's plenty of unhappiness. Even Jones looks like a fool now for putting the boot in thinking it was about pushing higher standards, now it's just become pushing Watts out the door. Watch Jones come out at B&F saying "he hopes Wattsy stays"...
