  1. On the media I found Richo bloody annoying on Saturday night. Clearly doesn't like the dees (as my wife said, it is probably because we have gone sailing past Richmond) and every chance he got he questioned the frees we were getting paid and talking us down, yet didn't seem to question any of the West Coast frees. He even defended the free against OMac for front on contact (when Omac made contact from behind/the side) saying it would have been too high anyway. No way in hell that could have been for too high!
  2. I will say I was surprised by how quickly Clarrie fell following this hit. I will also say that I don't think he dived. He was taken off guard by an ELBOW to the jaw which had enough force to slam his mouth shut and wobble his head. That would hurt, not only would you teeth hurt from smashing together (as I don't think he wears a mouthguard and if he does he may have taken it out for half time), but so would cuts from biting your checks/tongue and the joints between the jaw and scull would hurt quite a bit as well. The elbow isn't soft, there is no padding, just as there isn't really on your chin, this was basically bone on bone. I think Clarrie was stunned and trying to work out what had happened and how hurt he was. In doing so he did what pretty much everyone would do when you aren't expecting it and he fell. A natural reaction to an unnatural dog act perpetrated against him!
  3. If he is even reported it is a joke. He was going up in a marking contest, that's it. If he wasn't going for the ball then everything else you mention counts but it doesn't in a marking contest. If it did count then every screamer would be a free for to high to the bloke below.
  4. First time watching VFL in a long time. What actually has to happen to get a 50? It seems you can get away with anything
  5. Being royally screwed by the umps but Ben Ken , weid, and Kent are doing some nice things.
  6. No better than dogs pissing on poles. Absolutely no value to it at all!
  7. Lots. The next piece of graffiti will be painted over the top of this fairly quickly. I don't know how long on average things last but for 99% it would be measured in weeks at most. Given the football nature of this I would think it would be not long at all before an opposition supporter puts something over it.
  8. Just an FYI, Hosier Lane is one of many lanes in Melbourne's CBD (one of the more famous an public ones). Many of the lanes are celebrated in part due to the graffiti, which is ever changing.
  9. I would love to think that our marketing department are behind this but the lack of sponsors says otherwise. Would be a nice way to stamp ourselves as Melbourne, which is after all what they want to do. Would be a nice follow up to the free coffee and big ads they did last year.

No for current players due to potential injuries in a mickey mouse contest. Sounds like it could have some merit with retired players and VFL players. It would be a bit of fun for the retired blokes and exposure for the up and coming guys. I like the idea of a womens all star game that weekend as well.
  11. Agreed, I don't like seeing it but did laugh when he ran to the top of the square (so he would get an easy shot), then looked over his shoulder waiting for the hit to come. Sneaky little bugger.
  12. the 'Go Dees' is one I have heard. Funny though as my 3 year old daughter (who I am trying to get interested in footy) says we go for the Go Dees.
  13. That [censored] from Essendon asked Garry last night on Footy classified during the yes or no segment (i forget what they call it), if Melbourne should make Etihad our home (due to winning their this year). Garry looked quite bemused and said no way, we are the original team there and it is our home. I wish Garry had been stronger on it but didn't have time. I really don't think anyone outside our club understands that the G is ours, it is our home, there is no other place that we will ever move to (not like the rest of teams). All the others teams who call the G home are in fact tenants, we are the landlords!
  14. The other oddity from the MRP is the Jetta/Stringer decision. From the limited vision I have seen Jetta tackled Stronger, who didn't like it so started the wrestle, and then threw Jetta to the ground, bounced his full body weight and elbows into Jetta's ribs and was only stopped by ANB and Salem(?) coming in to drag him off. How both Stringer and Jetta get the same sanction (different amount due to first and second offence) is beyond me.
  15. In: Gawn Out: Watts. Watts is in great form and needed but I think he has a few niggles (hammy on the weekend may well be from the back last weekend, and had a groin a couple of weeks ago). Hope like hell I am wrong but wouldn't be surprised.
  16. If we were playing a team with a good tall ruck I think it would be a different story.
  17. I don't mind the cats, in fact if we had no longer existed (as in merged with the Hawks) I would have swapped to the cats. I have good mate who is a cat supporter (his mothers side has a team of the century player for the cats) but his old man is a dee, he has the dees as his second team. Has been great as we can gang up on our Hawk supporting mate for both the Geelong and Demon games.
  18. One of their BF posters has started a word association game (which isn't really word association in how it seems to work). I wonder if they have this thread to try and broaden their collective vocabulary and language skills! It is incredibly dull reading with each poster putting one word that follows on from the word in the last post. Some of these don't even make sense! I only looked through a couple of pages but must report that I didn't see the misuse of the words use at all. I wish there was a way I could give them a happy elephant stamp! https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/association-word-game-2.1142852/page-306
  19. So you think we will 6 more or 6 total?
  20. I said when we got Lewis that he will bring many things outside of his playing that we desperately need in terms of leadership and experience. I think he is bringing this. I also said in terms of his playing I hoped for a good first year (is on track, is not outstanding but is definitely good), and average second year, and a third year in and out of the team as the young ones overtake him. To me he is in the good bracket this year (just). I did expect him to be better but am happy with what he has brought so far (just). Hopefully he doesn't fall off a cliff form wise and he can keep playing through all of next year as well.
  21. The thing I noticed, and liked, was that he seemed to start having confidence to crash packs. A few times he flew and made a real impact to bring the ball to ground/get it out of bounds. In the past I have noticed him either hesitating or not going hard enough to make a real impact. he seemed to really throw himself at it quite a bit. He was also more composed with the ball. You are right though in that he wasn't outstanding, he was just very good which is what he should always be and is working towards. The potential is there to see, Oscar just needs to really commit to throwing himself at it in order for the rewards to truly come.
  22. I make of that that inside mids get lots of clangers because they work under extreme pressure and lots of the time their work doesn't come off. Tyson for some reason isn't allowed the same mistakes other mids are.
