  1. It was always going to happen and the AFL will probably let it happen. Just look at the Friday night fixture, North developed it into what it is but the big clubs didn't like it so it is now 'shared' (between the big clubs), then look at ANZAC day, Essendon and to a lesser extent the Pies developed it into what it is yet it can't possibly be shared because they made it good, even though they are benefiting from North developing Friday nights. None of these teams showed any interest in womens footy at the inception but now it has some legs through the great work of the dees (and reading into some of Daisies comments the dogs haven't been as on board as the dees), the big clubs will now what all the accolades. One of the funny things with the Pies is Eddie goes on about how the Pies have a womens change room and facilities when I am fairly sure building these was part of the conditions from the government for the redevelopment of the site for use by the public. I have not seen the Pies out doing anything to make the womens game stronger but Eddie will want and will take the glory with glee, and if he doesn't get his way he will trumpet about how unfair it is and how good the pies are and how they were instrumental in the development of the womens game. After that whinge I must say that the thing I am most proud of our club for over the last 10 years, and possibly over my lifetime (not long enough to get back to 64), is their work in developing the womens game and embracing it across the board. Being one of the first two with a team, the first with a draft pick (due to a toss of the coin), the first winners, the first to have a womens best and fairest with an epic speech to match, the first to employ a womens player from their side (even though not in a playing role), and hopefully the frst official team and the first to play in the whole new league. Matches the firsts in the mens game we are all so proud of.
  2. Lots, that is orrelevant though as the argument I was replying to was that Hawthorn don't have off days. Clearly they do as do all teams, even when winning premierships. The big difference is how far from their bast their off days are.
  3. Didn't they get pumped by 12 goals on the weekend?
  4. Good point Old Dee! Hadn't thought about him being so incredibly egotistical to ignore the experts advice. Not sure how I missed it when it really is an incredibly viable proposition.
  5. As predicted by most James Hird has lost his legal case against Chubb and now has to pay a legal bill of around $640,000. Maybe he should be suing his lawyers for the abysmal advice he has received throughout the whole saga!
  6. I dont mind the look of that and I see Frost, Dunn, and O Mac competing for the same spot in future
  7. It is called justifying your job so you dont lose it. Public servants are great at it!
  8. Where to start, Trengove, Scully, and Watts can be added to that. And Hogan to a large degree
  9. The thing I have liked about the Petracca debut and discussion is that it hasn't been framed as him being a savior, I have seen it far more as people being exited to see what he can bring to the table, and it seems the media are on board with that. I am loving the fact we aren't seen as needing a savior, we have a good strong experienced bunch in Vince, Jones, McDonald, Jetta, Garlett, Dunn, Lumumba, and Watts. None of whom are absolute stars but all would get a game in pretty much every other team. Then we have a big bunch of inexperienced youngsters in Viney, Salem, Brayshaw, Oliver, Hogan, Harmes, Tyson, Frost, Wagner, Hunt, Gawn, Avb, Kent etc etc. These guys are all showing they have what it takes at this level, some may end up stars but again pretty much all would be picked up and put on any list in the land. Petracca just adds to this bunch, he may end up the best of them all, he may not, it doesn't really matter as as a bunch they do show a lot of promise and it looks like there are finally good times ahead, with or without Petracca.
  10. I think I saw him try one but he ended up being gang tackled before he could even get the arm properly out. I think it was Wagner, Hunt, and Jetta who were hounding him on the corner of the square.
  11. That is a little unfair to Bugg as he can actually do his job fairly well, something Ray simply can't.
  12. Carro is right though, his second game was better than his first so he is technically playing the bast footy of his career!
  13. I highly doubt he will take up any full time role in football again. I got the strong feeling when he took on the job with us that he had done a deal with Tammy that this would be it and after the 3 years they would be spending time in the US.
  14. I can see him in a development role working with the new recruits, or even academy players once we have one. It keeps him well away from Goodwin and any discomfort that could cause, but keeps his knowledge at the club. He worked with the swans academy part time before he came to us I think, a similar role could work.
  15. I don't think he is timid at all, he is more evasive than he seems though so dodges the contact to keep his feet more often than not. One instance that sticks out to me was watching him beat Buddy convincingly in a one on one on the flank last year. Salem fought him in the air and on ground, got the ball and was off and left Buddy wondering what just happened. He does that sort of thing quite a bit, but he doesn't bash and crash to get it done so he looks timid. He has also laid some bloody tough tackles on big players at big points of games. I am a big fan but realise that you need to see the deft touch and evasive skill in what he does, if you miss that he may look a bit like a timid spud.
  16. One thing I love about this video is that it goes for nearly 10 minutes, it never seems to end, made me wonder if they threw a few goals in from lasts years Richmond game for good measure!
  17. The same way they pay it against Vince the other week for missing his target by hand while being tackled, cost us a goal that time!
  18. Sounds familiar (with RDB replaced by PR and Carlton with Melbourne). Hopefully with the same outcome!
  19. Yep, that's the point, the 2 for Tulip and the 87 for 1987.
  20. Right at the end the hawks player got possesion, looked for the Adelaode players and went into them to get tackled to take up time, then dropped it. Should have been a free!
  21. I had issues the other day with quoting from my mobile, had to do the post then delete to reset trick. Hasn't happened since though. Thanks for all your work trying to make the site as good as it can be.
  22. Was sarcasm Time, They are lyrics from the same song he quoted. I don't mind Stuie, we have our disagreements but he stands by what he says and that is fine by me.
  23. You had to have the last word didn't ya Stuie
  24. I agree with what you have said based on current form. I still think their best, which they are a long way from playing, is pretty good.
  25. Just tell who ever the Christening is for that you have a clash as you have a Christianing to go to
