  1. Another ๐Ÿ‘everyone (except maybe a ๐Ÿค” on the Daniel Gawn-sling, I'll keep my own counsel there...) About a million pages back I asked if RDB's reaction had been shown anywhere. Still silence? I hope he's OK. He was up to the sort of stuff the media craved pre-game but I wonder if that's the case for post-game...
  2. Thanks, all posters, and here we are only at No.1 (yes, yes and yes to everything said). Looking good, then, for another month of this wonderful ride! One question, D'land: Will you follow the numbers strictly or, Premiers-presentation-like, save No.11 till last?
  3. Please don't let this feeling fade away.
  4. I reckon Noel McMahen might have that covered, too?
  5. I think Noel McMahen from '48 is still with us!
  6. Interesting thoughts, pro and con, about the consideration of history, the timing thereof, and its value. Rather than a 'where are they now' piece, I would have found a 'what were they thinking' piece of some interest. The Schwab shenanigans before, and the Essendon win following, provide pause.
  7. Oh how cleansed you will be, WCW. Praise the Lord!
  8. 'Snap', adonski, as I was watching. To which I was going to add, 'Now I wish it was a 157-year drought!' p.s. Thanks, yet again, @Demonland
  9. You've made me think, Fork: I wonder what it would have been like to witness it as a neutral, with no inkling (like we maybe had) of its possibility? I'm almost (almost) jealous, as I have FOMO on steroids about any buzz that this year and its climax can go on offering, and I wonder what they might have felt.
  10. Not exactly on topic, but back in the day I always felt for Stan Alves. Debuted in Round 7, 1965, into a 6 and 0 premiership team. Nek minit... And 226 games later... Gave me something to cheer in 1977 though.
  11. She need not worry, WCW? - perhaps its petals will be beautifully di-splayed? Posters / interested followers: Are tattooists open then? Any recommendations in the south east? (further out the better)
  12. You all make cases for them all. Hard to disagree. My votes? The 'Bang! Bang, bang, bang!' trilogy. And I suspect that call will sneak into the pantheon of Grand Final commentary moments, beside 'Jesaulenko, you beauty!', 'Leo Barry, you star!', etc.
  13. Nothing much on teev tonight so, hey, more replays. Watched the last quarter of R23. And then we were Premiers. "Just. Like. That." Good call, L. Darcy
  14. Creeping up on 'Most Hard Core Celebrant', WCW. Whadayerreckon, @Mazer Rackham?
  15. It was on SEN. I heard it live. Shortly after confirmation of Burgo's move - early this week? I've gone looking for it after @FritschyBusiness's post but no luck on Google. Over to some savvier sleuth.
  16. Yeah, but his conclusion bugged me... (Apologies @Queanbeyan Demon. Your fault @Demonstone and @Biffen)
  17. Muted response it seems, D'land. Here's hoping 2022 delivers an ability to engage again with the Casey Dees and their exploits. Missed the localness and the dynamic it provided with 'the ones'.
  18. Serious one: Christian Salem's apparent groin issues? (don't know if these are intervention or rest matters)
  19. Given our age demographic, group booking at The Royal Children's?
  20. Natural reaction, Binman (humorous, I suspect ๐Ÿ˜‰) Would in seriousness have been mine, too, before 9/25. Now I hope we don't!๐Ÿ˜
  21. Yet another Post Deliverance thread that needs a big 'Love Youse All' button ๐Ÿ‘ I like (at least I think I do - it's more than 2 years (lifetimes?) ago now...) to sit just behind the Demon Army and its followers. I'm looking forward to taking my 'arrogance cue' from them in Round 1 2020. I will, of course, need to temper it as befits my elderly station...
  22. Hundred and ten percent, Cassie!๐Ÿ˜‰ I read somewhere that it was first sung by the team in 1912, and that Bluey Truscott wrote the '39 verse. I'm thinking they meant 'arranged' or probably 'performed' - 1972 was about the time technology would have allowed 'quality' broadcast at games and the VFL would have been jumping on it and getting 'official' versions for the purpose (such simple days...). I just included the entry verbatim to clarify 'old' was in the written lyrics, not just evident in the recording.
  23. I'm perennially unknowledgeable in the off-season staples of trade and draft (except for Oliver, who I positively demanded after viewing his TAC highlights the day before that draft ๐Ÿ˜) but I have been as guilty as any in devouring them as sources of salvation year after year. Now, are we suffering withdrawal symptoms or separation anxiety?๐Ÿ˜‰
  24. Mah Scorts heritage agrees wi' ye, rpfc, but... Melbourne Football Club 12.1K subscribers SUBSCRIBE Written in 1972 by the Fable Singers for the Melbourne Football Club It's a grand old flag it's a high flying flag, It's the emblem for me and for you, It's the emblem of the team we love, The team of the red and the blue, Every heart beats true for the red and the blue, And we sing this song to you, Should old acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the red and the blue.
  25. First, time for another ๐Ÿ‘ to all (well, almost all๐Ÿ˜‰) posters on this gift-that-keeps-on-giving thread. Then, your offering, Mazer, gives me the courage to put my offering below out there. I thought if 1939 warranted recognition (though I've never understood why - 13-year drought? Pffft!) then 2021 definitely does! I sent it to the club and got a prompt and very warm thanks for it, which I really appreciated. Looks like that's as far as it'll go, then, but I've got it off my chest (or I finally do now๐Ÿ˜„): 3. Well The Curse was done, in the year Twenty-one, And they did it for you and for me. With that final bell, ending decades of hell, We can sing with them finally free: Every heart beats true, for the Red and the Blue, And we sing this song to you, Should old acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue.
