  1. Sounds like the remedy.....if we get him!
  2. Timing is everything. The year we bottom out, is the year the "brains trust" at the afl start making moves to set up their new teams. Where is our luck?? I thought we could rebuild, it seems we will be down at the bottom for a few years now, the years the AFL start chopping up the new talent to give to the "gold coast gold diggers" and the "south sydney draft rapists"
  3. Plenty left in Wheels, and the list managers know this. They took the broom through the over 25s last year. Wheels still has 2-3 seasons left. Also important to know his influence on our indigenous players. He really takes good care of them, and is a great role model at the club.
  4. Stiff for the poor bloke. Hope he can bounce back and be his best next year. pick #1 to dees?? Essendon are now in the running with their injury list.
  5. I love early picks. The 09 and 10 drafts will be tough for existing clubs, thats not to say we might not find a gem. There have been plenty of dud draftees in previous years, including early rounds (cough cough- Adam Fiora). We just have to hope we land some lateround gems (IE James Hird). Would love to have the power of the new clubs, they will make some big moves come trade week.
  6. Fact: Kerr is a gun Fact: Kerr is a F#$K Head Fact: Carlton cannot afford him Fact: The MFC is the most unattractive football club in Victoria for out of contract players. (it is true guys, we have shitful facilities, an underdeveloped list, and a club that has some off field problems) We will have a dip, WC will ask the world for him considering they are rebuilding. We are also rebuilding, we could use a hard player like Kerr. Even if he is mental. As for Ben cousins, he could go anywhere. Would love him at the dees, can see the woods getting his signature though.
  7. General feel is Meese is not going to cut it at the club. PLenty said about the future, not much of it with Meese as a part of it, Would like to see what Meese is about before cutting ties. PJ as 3rd ruckman? PJ has worked hard this year, and deserves better than that. That said, I still think PJ would make a good forward, so I suppose a 3rd ruckman provided he is a 1st tier forward would be ok. Not seen Much of Naitanui, have heard plenty. A big ask for him to be 1st ruckman in his second year. From all those who have seen him, he seems capable of it. I was pretty sure the dees would be a chance to aviod the spoon and #1 pick, given our performance it would not be silly to start making future predictions with Naitanui's name in the mix.
  8. If my facts are correct, the dees are paying part of his salary, so I don't know what they are bitching about salary for. He was a STEAL salary wise. To be honest, Brisbane has not been all that impressive IMO. Travis will shine when they are up. Idiot supporters over that way, honest to god, what did they expect him to do, outshine black, brown and the stars that won them flags not so long ago? Give him some time lions fans, rome was not built in a day.
  9. SURELY we are not suggesting the WEAGLEs will continue their horrible form. Port are pretty awful, but to fall this far form runners up last year is a bit rich. Both the eagles and Port should have racked up a few more wins by round 20. I hate to say it, we are just THAT far off the comp this season it hurts.
  10. I think we should still be running with our best 22 until the middle of the year. Yze can still push into the top 22 if his form is right. He will be back this year. I am with Rhino on blooding youth. After round 12, we give the kids a full run. Forget the best 22, put the FITTEST players on the park, no matter what their name is. All the "carrying injury" sorts, rest them. I want to see kids playing and losing, rather than vets playing with injuries and losing.
  11. Anything to worry about with Newton, or will he get off? Considering Neitas injury, getting rubbed out would be tragic for Newton who would be in the mix in hte upcoming few weeks. Nice ot hear Bater was solid (I am not at all suprised, the guy has GUN written all over him), nice to see a few other demon names up in the best. IF yze can build some form we may see some OOOOZe Back in the red and blue.
  12. I can see both sides to this coin. From a supporters point of view, it would have been a hige statment to clean up money bags mcgee. He would have gained much respect from fans and I am sure from his peers. From Sylvia's point of view, the poor bastard has had an injury riddled few years, not to mention form fades. He is on the right track, and a bad tribunal hearing might have given him a week or 2, something that he cannot afford at this point in his career. I am sure cleaning up Judd went through his mind, the slight risk of being rubbed out was too high for him to take. Hopefully Col can keep building form, which will let him off the hook IMO.
  13. Greatest MFC supporter in 150 years? I am sure some Stewart Spencer would give you a good smack on the chin for that comment. Congrats on making the HUN, now put your ego back in your pants where it belongs.
  14. We could draft Ben Cousins to help turn our form around next season. And if it doesnt work out, we could always as Benny to put us in contact with some of his "business associates" to help pour some "funds" into the club.
  15. Sandy would get hammered. Nothing against sandy, they are a great, proud and strong club. We are talking A vs B grade here.
  16. If it means we take the pick from Richmond then losing is really winning. Neita could have played his farewell game by that stage anyway. In this situation I would love to win a game for Neita, the honest truth is we probably could not win it even if we wanted to.
  17. Valenti would be on the cusp of selection if promoted off the rookie list. THe dees have to run with a goal kicker with neita out, so the human torch Matthew Bate gets the run if he is ready. The way this season is heading, Valenti should find himself playing soon enough.
  18. I cannot F%#king believe it! WHAT A JOURNO, coming the the HOTTEST and most reliable football source on the planet, demonland.com! Congrats to YM for making the paper, it was bound to happen sooner or later. It is nice to know people outside the die hard red and blue would sift through our beloved demonland.com
  19. I was there, I was the sex bomb down on the front table! Pj handled himself like a true champ, took the plenty of flack from the odd supporter whilst holding his head up high. Then Ben Cousins convo had me thinking. He said " Ben has been training before us , and looks in great shape. He seems to have put all that stuff behind him and is ready to come back and play football". He also said this, which made my ears [censored] up further "Ben has had a chat with a people and players at the club, and has really seemed to have changed his ways" I wonder WHICH people he has been talking to. Also when asked is Ben cousins would be embraced, PJ shot back "He is a brownlow medalist, we would embrace a player of that calibre"- or something to that effect.
  20. Brown will not leave the lions. And if he did have a brainfade and walk, we should sit pretty at the bottom of the ladder and see what happens. #1 pick and a free browny would be enough for me to pay for 3 years membership up front. Browny in red and blue will not happen. #1 pick, that is a different story!
  21. WE FINALLY get wheels back, and then BANG, he is out again. We will get SMASHED at the gabba, we should give a kid a run in wheels' spot. Throw them in the deep end and see if they will swim.
  22. OUT: Jamar IN: Anyone not named Jamar
  23. Just lethal playing mind games. This REV up will no doubt cause travis to rack up 30 touches against us. The real moral of this story, if you have a dream team, this week is a good week to use Trapper!
  24. Mees could come in as a forward/ruck type, a bit of risk involved but an option. Bate is the first choice if he is ready to go. Newton could easily slot in if he can be bothered, and a few smokeys such as Yze or Dunn could give FF a run. Bails might even unveil a debutant to shake things up. I would not put it past him.
  25. ROUND 8 is a fair yardstick. If we are winless by then, finals are pretty much out of the question unless Chuck Norris dons the red and blue. Sylvinator has some good points. I am not sure gutting the playing list at seasons end is such a good move, you want your young kids to learn from someone, guys like Macca and Wheels have something to teach. Time has passed for Holland, verdict still out on Neita (looking grim) and Yze (where the hell are you mate??). Weetra needs more time (was injured most of his rookie season, so this is his first crack as a season), and Meesssse has yet to be tried at this level. We will need to cut 5-6 guys to help rebuild, but a suggested cleanout of 11 player could do more harm than good.
