I am usually a glass half full MFC supporter, but I don't expect much improvement next year.
The loss of Frawley will hurt.
GWS and GC will improve, Brisbane appearing on the up, inclusion of Rich will help to.
MFC will tail out with St Kilda, painful times ahead IMO.
I'm sorry, but apart from the odd goal here and there, Chip will not be missed. The top 5 pick however won't hurt us.

Nope. Didn't want to come to us back then can get stuffed now. Get your retirement fund elsewherre
People have very short memories. This guy refused to have a meeting with us when we were trying to chase him.
So he can get stuffed for all I care. Struggled this year anyway. Body is shot.
Do you blame him for not wanting to come to us then? I certainly don't blame him.
For the same reasons that Collingwood is pushing him out, I don't think we can really pick him up. His body is not up to the rigours of AFL footy anymore and he's at best an average kick. If we bring players into the club we need more in the 22-25 age group.
Still a better kick than over half our list at the moment.

This is good and bad. If Chippa goes, it will be ok to trade one of the picks. But i would love to get Petrecca and trade one of the high picks.
I am not banking on us getting a priority pick
Saints stated that they will take the best player in the draft, no matter of the position they play. So trading our picks looks to be the go.

Pick 2 & 3 to Adelaide for Taylor Walker, Dangerfield & Lyons...
They'd be keen for first rounders.
Yep I'm dreaming
I'd love for both Tex and Dangers to be in the red and blue next year, however on a realistic scale, can't see it happening sadly.

It just goes to show that player development is critical and crucial, they don't have to hit the nail on the head in their first year, or even say their first three years, but they'll grow to be elite footballers like you've mentioned, while the above mentioned players aren't all elite, they'd be strong A grade players.
Most players in their first few years will show little glimpses of what they're capable of doing, they'll do it more consistently, then grow, and develop, into sole leaders and a huge part in the team. While luck is involved in what players you get, it's more about their development, high draft picks such as Morton, Scully, Sylvia, etc, all turned out to be duds, who knows what they would have become if they were managed properly at another club. If a player is in an unenjoyable environment, getting treated like crap by the coaching staff (be hard on the players for them to become good by all means, just don't treat them [censored]), getting into bad habits wether it's footy related or outside-footy related, are all contributions to weaken a players development. -
Think it was Taylor Hunt.
Yeah, that was the one, Red. Surely that swap wouldn't hurt.
-
Trade for Smedts?
I saw a suggested trade with one of their players but I can't 100% remember, I think it was Murdoch or Schroder.
-
Has anyone heard any news about other teams targeting our players? I know we dont have a great selection but surely teams will be asking every club about most players. Tommy Mac still OOC and dare I say a team like st kilda or GWS sniffing around..
TMac recently signed on, but there's a rumour that Geelong are interested in Blease.

Oh boy... I'm usually optimistic...but next week against west coast is going to be really ugly.
You say we will win against Hawks, but after an alright display by the Eagles you say it's going to get ugly? Lol.

Even the best players in the league sometimes f'k up, whatever, they're allowed to make mistakes because it's not like it's a problem of their's. Marc won't get dropped so don't be silly about it.

Watts for Armitage. Would spoil the GWs trade for Cameron at the same time.
I am all for getting Armitage

They've put us in graveyard time slot for the game v Hawrhorn.
Hope that's not an omen.
Anyone going?
I'll be there in my usual spot, AFL members down near the fence right on the wing. I have a sick feeling in my stomach about this game...
-
Casboult knocked back an offer from the blues... on the move?
I wouldn't mind him, needs to work on his kicking for sure but sure does have a great set of hands.
-
Thanks Satyr
I've been missing your training reports.
You didn't mention Grimes. Can we assume he wasn't there and will still be missing?
Said earlier this week 1-2 more weeks out for him
-
So going by that report, you'd think for this week...
IN: Gawn, Michie, Cross, Barry
OUT: Pedo, Blease, McKenzie, Tappy -
My step brother/mum both are mad Hawks supporters, always giving my dad and I [censored] for being "sad old Melbourne supporters", nothing will be better to take it right up them and give them a fright

People have short memories in regards to Wellingham. When we were trying to chase him along with Dawes he refused to meet with us same deal as Luke Ball did back in 2010.
They can go and get stuffed
Most overated player in the competition.
Yep, Wellingham wanted to go to the club he grew up barracking for.

- North has shown interest in Dean Kent. Not sure on his contract status?
Norf can get F'D!!!

Pick 2 or 3 for Ryan griffen. I reckon that would be a good deal cause they need a key foward. No truth to it.. Just a personal thought.
Yeah, a good deal for THEM, definitely not us.

Spoke to Salem's brother the other day. Asked him if he still barracks for Essendon, he said the whole family are Dees supporters now.
This brings me great joy.

I was at the game with my step bro, I said to him jokingly while Jordie marked it "I wouldn't be surprised if he misses this", and what do ya know...

I remember thinking O'Keefe was the best player in the competition. Guys I seriously reckon he can do a Boomer Harvey. I've heard he lives an extremely healthy lifestyle and is determined to keep playing AFL. Maybe we could get 3 good years off him despite him turning 34 next year.
Yeah don't hold your breath for 3 years on that one.
-
Poor delivery is always going to make your forwards look shite, with minimal chances it creates more room for error. Dawes wasn't ever meant to be our main forward either, but until Hogan and potentially another key forward come into the equation then he's our 1st forward.

Mike Pyke hasn't signed on for next year yet for the Swans and I have the feeling that he'll be on the move to the Dees. Roos was the one who got him to the Swans and Roos has stated that we're going to be after another ruckman.
