I feel sick. For the sake of my health, it might be best if I sit out of the Game Day thread today.
-
WTF is the coaches box doing? Get Vince on Zorko/Beams now and shut them down! They've put that ducking [censored] Mathieson on Oliver and it's killing us. Time to return the favour!
-
And there's every chance Fremantle will beat Essendon next week and [censored] over their finals chances.
-
He'd make a fantastic politician, ol' Gil. Assigns close family/friends to cushy positions in the media (his brother) and uses the leverage of AFL accreditations to prevent media figures from speaking out against corruption in his organisation. Stunning stuff. But really, if you're surprised by any of this, you're really not paying attention to reality.
-
I put on a movie hours ago. What a disgraceful night of fixturing from the AFL.
-
Well that makes it 3/3 results so far this round that we needed to go our way. Will we get the final 2 results with an Essendon loss and a victory against Brisbane tomorrow? I bloody hope so!
-
An Eagles upset here really [censored] us. C'mon Giants you pricks! Why couldn't you play this badly against us!
-
[censored] hell, the Eagles must be the most boring team in the comp. Their entire gameplan consists of: Kick from tall to tall around the boundary line until you fluke a mark in front of goal. All the while the midfield runs around aimlessly, uninvolved, diving for free kicks at every opportunity because they refuse to tackle or play contested ball. The only reason they manage so many wins is the umpiring advantage at Subiaco; they're scared to death of contested ball. They are absolutely one of Macca's "teams who will get found out very quickly in finals."
-
2/2 for results going our way so far! Brilliant! You're up next GWS, beat these soft ducking Eagles into dust! Then we need Essendon to blow another gimme win. And finally, we need to not seriously [censored] everything up tomorrow like we did 3 weeks ago!
-
FML, Boak and Grey both shat themselves with chances at goal then. Port now trailing into the last quarter. Q2 showed the wind is no great advantage for Port, similar to how we blew the North game in Q4 despite having the wind. Would be nice if Port proved me wrong here or we'll really have our backs against the wall next week.
-
Did Port have the wind as an advantage then? They're down by a goal at half-time. Hopefully being down on rotations will hurt the Dogs by Q4, especially if the wind is a factor (tiring conditions to play footy in).
-
[censored], even Cloke's kicking goals now. How embarrassing.
-
Other than beating the Lions, the Dogs losing is probably the single most important result for us this weekend. Though the Eagles getting their percentage smashed by GWS and the Bombers dropping another gimme-win would be icing on the cake for our chances.
-
My dream scenario is Dogs, Bombers and Eagles losing this weekend. It would virtually lock us into the 8, assuming we can get over the Lions tomorrow (after the North, Dockers and Hawks losses, I'm not so naive as to assume any wins this year). Dogs or Bombers losing is essentially a nail in the coffin to their finals chances, barring us or the Eagles losing all our matches from here. If the Dogs win their last 2 matches, 12 wins won't be enough for us to make it. We'd need both the Eagles & Bombers to lose a game and for the Eagles to get smashed in the process (as their percentage is comparable to ours).

Our late season derailment coincided with the Sydney match and Bugg's brainfart. What followed was a relentless media campaign that dragged our club and Bugg through the mud. There's no doubt in my mind that this had a huge effect on the club and players.
-
Feel for the Doggies, but we've had our share of BS MRP results this year too and there was very little media outrage. 2 weeks was overs but he had a loading for a bad record, so it makes sense from that perspective. We need the Dogs to lose at least 1 more match so I'm not unhappy with this outcome.
-
Bugg has to earn his place like everyone else. The 6 week suspension was probably close to season over, depending on the VFL fixturing. He has no match fitness.
-
It would be the spiritual sequel to our loss to Carlton in round 22 last year. Almost identical situation, exact same number of wins, a chance at securing a finals position, a devastating loss that extinguished our season. It would be groundhog day to lose again under such similar circumstances. We need to prove that we've made progress this year beyond a few token wins outside Victoria.
-
Geez, 0.3% separating us from the Bombers. I'm going to be absolutely livid if we [censored] up tomorrow. It will be our single worst loss for the year, in a year full of miserable losses.

The kid loves to party!

Ahh, Tim, the moral crusader... As long as it doesn't have anything to do with his own club. What a sad, little man. Worse, using his media platform to defend those who used his son like a guinea pig in a pharmacological experiment. Father of the year type stuff, that.
-
Exactly, could not give a fig if we played on the bloody moon! We haven't played finals in over a decade and it's crucial to our young list's development that we experience a finals match this year, regardless of where it happens. In fact, isn't our away record just as good as our home record this year? We hold no fears playing interstate yet regularly forget to turn up at home.

The middle one certainly is.

The same reason Basil calls Pedersen Colin Garland.
