  1. At least Dean Terlich, Matt Jones and Ro Bail are available for selection in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
  2. Could be an $800k/year player once WADA gets their way.
  3. I wonder if the club would build any clauses into the contract in the scenario he gets banned?
  4. I'd back Taylor to find another Nibbler around pick 40 than take Melksham.
  5. $400k for Melksham is insanity in a way that makes $500k for Dawes look sensible. Surely there is no way our footy department could be so moronic?
  6. The other consideration is he hasn't been wallowing at some poor development club; say what you will about the club but Essendon's development program is one of the most lavish in the league. They're not exactly short of a quid. So if he hasn't exactly "blossomed" after 6 years in this system, when exactly will it happen?
  7. So we're offering a contract he might not be able to fulfil half of? Maybe worth a punt for $250-$300k, but nearly $400k? No way.
  8. The only universe where we should give up our second rounder involves Melksham and Essendon's 3rd rounder coming back, ala the Frost deal last year. But a second round pick in a shallow draft has much, much more currency than a third rounder. So unless Goodwin knows something we don't, this seems like a big mistake.
  9. He'd be an improvement on our worst players but... [censored]. I wouldn't touch an Essendon player until WADA's situation is resolved. Essendon are bad news at the trade table, period. If Carlton are dumb enough to give up a first rounder for Carlisle, only to have him banned for 2 years, it would be the funniest situation to unravel in the modern game. Do we really want to play a part in that by sacrificing something as high as our third rounder? Essendon will demand our second rounder, for starters.
  10. This thread is still going? Please. Our recruitment team is no longer infested by morons.
  11. We chased Lynch for a while and obviously were left red-faced less than a week ago. I imagine we scrambled pretty quickly to find a suitable alternative.
  12. SaberFang replied to Striker475's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Always seems to be a gun who slips, incomprehensibly, to somewhere between pick 10 and 20. Would love to see us get that player if we slide to around pick 9.
  13. Isn't this the guy we were all crushed got dropped for our match versus Essendon?
  14. That's frightening if true. Imagine if Hogan was getting the kind of delivery Roughead gets at the Hawks, Pavlich at Freo or Cloke at the Pies. Granted all three players sat a few games out, but the point stands.
  15. You don't exactly gain a year of playing experience when you spend the entire year sidelined though. I hate hearing this argument from foaming Carlton fans. And 2015 is Cripps' second playing year, ironically.
  16. Think this is what Roosy was referring to on 360 tonight. No other player has achieved what Jesse Hogan has in their first year.
  17. I wish they'd break the annoying record of losing whenever I tip them and winning whenever I tip against them. They cost me $200 today because the pricks underneath me had nothing to lose and went the Dees.
  18. The more Melbourne supporters we draft, the better. Certainly becoming an endangered species, but all of us want the same thing.
  19. Agreed, the team is vastly improved with Pedo in Dawes' place. Frankly, I'd take a fit Pedo at his best over the recruitment of Lynch, even if he has less years left in him.
  20. Herald Sun article last week, also mentioned our interest in Lynch. Ricciuto was suspiciously awkward during yesterday's match when pressed on the issue, as well (Lynch, that is, not Howe. Either way, seems like he's gone).
  21. Don't think any list manager in the competition would call $1M a year for Hogan, and locking him in until his first year of FA eligibility, a poor move. Finish the season, pay for a club trip to Bali with all his young teammates, send him home to see his family for a fortnight (just long enough for him to remember how naggy his parents are ), then put the contract under his nose. Oh, and pay for all his older siblings to move to Melbourne. That'll do it.
  22. If Hogan finishes first for contested marks in the league, he'd be hard pressed to look past for the RS.
  23. Those were direct quotes from Roosy, dee-luded.
