I noticed this a few weeks ago as well. The media cream themselves fellating Collingwood when they beat Carlton by 20 points on the weekend. Who'd have predicted two weeks ago that we could go from being one of only 3 contenders to struggling to stay inside the top 8? Forget about cementing the top 4, this has consecutive disaster years written all over it. Sometimes it feels like this team never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Our record for these big stage matches is just horrific, consistently fail to show up. Have we won a single Friday night game in the last 5 years (admittedly we've probably only had a handful of them)?

Have read two rumours. One is that players were forced into a fake hostage situation, with "terrorists" ambushing their bus and holding players at gunpoint. Another scneario, revealed by Damian Barrett tonight on FC, involved some kind of nighttime hunter/predator chase through a forest, which left players bewildered and confused. The whole thing sounds utterly bizarre.

Care to elaborate? Lucky they have so many Friday night games then!

Gotta wonder about that off-season camp. Bringing up such personal topics with the players, surrounded by all their teammates to witness, seems to have really strained relations between players and the club. Can't say I'm surprised. Yep, the gap between the worst teams and the capable teams has widened this year, in an unexpected way. The mediocre teams (St Kilda, Carlton, Gold Coast, Bulldogs) have become inexplicably worse, while the competent teams have levelled off (Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, Port Adelaide) or made steady improvement (Melbourne, West Coast, Richmond, Collingwood).

Would've preferred more breathing space between us and the Pies but not unhappy to see the lowly teams continue to lose. Helps to reduce the field of potential finalists. I'd say any team heading into their bye with 4-5 wins is basically out of finals contention, considering the logjam at 7-8 wins.

All of a sudden Clarkson to GWS looking much more intriguing. They have no excuses whatsoever, not even injuries. They've had an absurd amount of handouts and concessions, if they're not contending this year then hopefully the exodus begins.
