  1. Geez, if we win tomorrow, Carlton get band 1 compo for Kreuzer and Brisbane get a PP, we drop from pick 5 to pick 8. Conversely, if we lose tomorrow, Kreuzer re-signs and Brisbane get nothing, we get pick 4. Go figure!
  2. I can see us offering $1.1M+ for Hogan over 6+ years, and comfortably beating Geelong's offer for Dangerfield. Two swallows does not a winter make, however.
  3. The more Melbourne supporters we draft, the better. Certainly becoming an endangered species, but all of us want the same thing.
  4. We can't magically invent extra draft picks though. All we get is pick 5, 23, 41, 59, 77, etc. Realistically that's only 3 quality draftees when we're looking at 8-10 delistings of our current list. Where exactly do you propose the better replacements come from? Adcock might only be a 1 year solution to a 5 year problem at our club, but he's still more of a solution than the likes of Terlich and McKenzie.
  5. It's possible the club hasn't identified another Vanders this draft and, based on our last month, are happier to bring in more experienced players for free at the same time as going to the draft.
  6. Who would you rather as depth, Adcock or McKenzie? Both will cost the same. Who provides more leadership, skill, experience, etc.? We're hardly a destination club with the ability to get Dangerfield, Treloar, Motlop, etc. All we can do is keep replacing our second-tier players with better ones, until the draftees kick into gear and we finally climb the ladder.
  7. He's not getting any big offers because his manager is an idiot. $700k? He's flogging himself.
  8. Sydney have gotten away with absolute robbery by getting Heeney. He's a freak. No wonder the AFL intervened this year if their new Academy crop is just as good.
  9. If it avoids another inevitable "but you missed so-and-so!" thread, all the better. Just imagine if we'd had a slightly later pick in the 2012 draft rather than pick 4. We would've had Stringer, Wines or Macrae.
  10. But so many MFC players are exceeding performances like this... once every 2 years.
  11. Had the same reaction until I read the article. It's because it's Cross' farewell game and Howe's 100th game. Nothing more to it.
  12. Pretty sure most umpires for interstate matches are based in the state where the match is played.
  13. Playing West Coast at DS was always a big ask for St Kilda.
  14. Yep, means Carlton can get Carlisle via the PSD. Interesting trade period ahead, I reckon! Personally, I think the club relished relinquishing the pressure of pick 1 last year. Petracca vs McCartin was a difficult choice. The more teams that get picks before us, the easier it becomes to just select the best available talent.
  15. You wouldn't take him in the twos to help Casey? If the club had any intention of taking the risk on Adcock (who will cost us nothing), they'd rightfully let Cross go as you can't carry two players of this sort on a senior list.
  16. Brisbane was a team rejuvenated tonight. It's almost like they didn't have to prove they needed a priority pick anymore; did the AFL give them some bad news during the week? As for Carlton and number 1 picks, well... Gibbs, Murphy, Kreuzer... what more can I say? Watts typifies it for us. Scully typifies it for GWS. It's not the panacea.
  17. Yeah, people are kidding themselves if they didn't think we'd miss Howe AND Garland over the one off-season. Howe's clearly out the door so I'm happy to hear Garland's staying. He's been a loyal clubman through tough times, and he's one of the core group of long-suffering players who deserve success.
  18. As soon as I saw the questionable Cross delisting, I had a feeling Adcock would come into play. We're a leaderless team on-field and Roos hopes for Cross to remain at the club in a development role, but ultimately you can't carry Cross AND Adcock on your senior list. Get Adcock in for nothing, keep Cross around at training developing our kids and setting the standards, it's a win-win. Plus, we get the leadership of Brisbane's former captain who will be desperate to prove Brisbane wrong.
  19. Thanks to the Crows throwing away their home final, I'm equal first in tipping now. Fantastic. Question is, who holds their nerve tipping in the last 4 games that all appear reasonably one-sided? The only surprise upset I can predict is us, but this team hasn't won a single time that I've tipped them this year.
  20. Screw this round, it's going to cost me a huge windfall in tipping, I can just tell.
  21. 11 points at 3QT. Going to be an excruciating final quarter. Lions missed so many opportunities to put the Dogs away and now trail by 8 points.
  22. So if Brisbane get the upset (looking possible at the moment) then Adelaide get their home final IF they pull their finger out. If I were Campo, I'd be screaming it into every player's ears at 3QT that beating Geelong means a home final after all. Come on boys!!
  23. Bizarre round. 8 goals 11 behinds to Brisbane? Just imagine if they were kicking straight. The Bulldogs have kicked 9 goals ZERO behinds. Incredibly accurate and means they're less than a goal down.
  24. Should've known this would happen in Geelong. There goes my lead in the tipping competition, everyone else tipped the bloody Cats. Goddamn it!
  25. Someone on Facebook saying Jones is out for surgery for Sunday's game? Watts coming in?
