  1. You answered your own question. Not at all interested.
  2. I will. Your need to re write history is frankly silly and does not hide a lack of understanding of what really occurred at the time. Sweet dreams.
  3. He was dominant for 17 rounds. You can penny pinch the rest. He was better than any other ruckman in that year over the course of the season. Sydney won a flag in 2005. Their supporters would say anything was great bargain for that year. Particularly a first round pick that spent most of the time on the pine playing second fiddle to a 34yo in his last year. Gloss it as much as you like.
  4. White was nothing special in front of goal from any distance. And your greatly mistaken if you are comparing White and Watts forward process. The assessment of White was over a 10 year period. Watts has been with the Club 2 years. Go figure the rest. In his final year at MFC in 2004, Jolly missed alot of the season through injury. White was an athletic ruckman who made up for lack of height at the centre through his marvellous leap and great athleticism and tank. During 2004, White dominated the centre bounce area and was the No 1 ruckman in the AFL. White won AA honours. Its not a matter of dispute. He was judged by the AA experts as such Together with Scott Thompson, they were pivotal in MFC topping the table by Rd16. But when Thompson got injured and White started to tire toward season end, MFC's hopes in that year faded. Jolly did play in the last few rounds but played poorly. In addition he cracked the sads off the field and wanted to be No 1 ruckman without ever showing the mettle. He was traded by MFC to Sydney with one year to go on his contract. It took Jolly a further 3 years to become a No 1 ruckman at the Swans. In his first year at Sydney, he saw more pine than a Bunnings warehouse playing 2nd fiddle to Jason Ball. He has become a very good ruckman but at MFC he was many years off that as a green developing player. And you assertion about development under Daniher was quite wrong.
  5. So we move an AA ruckman at the time forward for an underperforming player who spat the dummy? Dont think so. The centre circle rule was not in place when Jolly was traded. White was moved forward a number of times and proved himself inept in key forward role. One of White's weaknesses was his poor body on body contest, he was not a strong overhead mark (his great hangers were often chestmarks two or three deep when he had the sit) and he was an indifferent kick for goal.
  6. I agree. Lets weaken the backline to "punt" the forward line. The FD should have more guts to turn an established and improving strength up back into an unknown forward.
  7. That not what the media have indicated. (Assuming they dont make it up B) ). I would have thought there are potentially better examples of those attributes with a greater upside in performance. If the Tigers recruiting Miller with leadership high on the agenda it speaks poorly about the attributes in their existing list and their recruiters IMO.
  8. While Jack should have looked to maximise the the first option, Miller's lack of a shepherd was an example of (and indicative of) his decision making gaps at the top level. I just dont see why the media are labelling him a "strongman option" for Richmond. He just isnt that sort of player.
  9. PJ wont be rookied. The FD department have made a judgement call that he is not up to AFL requirements. If it was just a Spencer vs PJ issue (it isnt), then the FD would not have chased Hale. The fact they missed out on Hale and still cut PJ says it all.
  10. I hope you enjoyed the day. Its a great view spot in the MCC members and the facilities are good. You dont get some of the LCDs that can populate the outer and ruin a day of football. But I dont think the dining room experience is at all indicative of the true MCC experience.
  11. Since Stynes played the No 11 has been worn by Simmonds before he left to go to Freo, two years by a raw and inepxerienced Jolly who had threatened to walk out of the Club after throwing a sook. For the last 5 years its been worn by ruckman that has chronically underperformed and has been cut by the FD. Hardly a tradition or history of respecting the number. I am not sure why Spencer, Gaen, Fitzy need to stand up and prove anything. The other three players did not do the number justice. So can we spare the pretence of icing it on the basis of a player deserving it? Lets just award the number and let a player make his own mark in it. And before the creationists came along and re wrote the history of the Number 11 guernsey, Laurie Mithen and Greg Wells did the number proud and they weren't rucks. I am sure Jim Stynes would not stand on the pomp and ceremony others are playing on. I am sure he would realise the silliness of icing his number given the time that has passed and that MFC look forward to a great future.
  12. Well done you have completely missed the point. For someone who bangs on about the importance of tradition at football clubs, I would have thought the situation of Hird and Buckley was pertinent to show it isn't at two traditional Melbourne based club. Sorry for the logic. And if you actually took the time to follow the thread of the argument I actually agreed with the poster that Jake Spencer should get jumper 11. So go re read before you pump yout tyres
  13. No it isnt. Stynes jumper has already been iced for two years. Since then Jolly, Simmonds and PJ have worn it. FWIW, when Bucks retired from Collingwood his jumper number was passed immediately on. The same happened with James Hird's number. Both outstanding greats of their Club and game and both thought the idea of icing their number was unnecessary. Lets hope the Club focusses on the important stuff and not the trivialities that appear in media releases that some poster feel is "important" for a football Club
  14. Agree. Too much ceremony and pretence on jumper numbers. Just creates an unnecessary psychological monkey on the back for the recipient Lets just get on with it and start developing this young side.
  15. I guess when you cant put a constructive argument together you need to stoop to that.... Not good. If you really what to fly the flag on player abuse, you might want to rally behind some of the Michael Newton critiques. But I'll leave it your good judgement.
  16. Some of the simplistic views of Robbo are misplaced. One of his weakness amongst some of the strengths he had is that focussed on the individual outcome sometimes to the detriment of the side. Robbo was committed to the Demons. It was great when he exercised that commitment on the teams terms and not his own. Overall, its a great story about a guy off the rookie list who made the most of his opportunities to have a good AFL career.
  17. Huh? Where have been the personal insults on this thread? What he is does now if it is related to football and appears in the Press is everyone's business to comment on within the C of C. You find distateful the comments that dont abide with yours.
  18. He has got the 5th or 6th rookie list position. Talk about blowing it out of proporion.
  19. I agree with the bolded statement and his record and story at MFC is a good one. But chill out on the stick the boot stuff. It hasn't happened on this thread and your first sentence is an overreaction. At best the responses to his coaching role have been positive.
  20. Good. Fair and reasoned assessment. A rarity when it comes to the discussion of Newton. With Newton there is miniscule premium. And he is there as a long shot. MFC may well be looking another seasoned big man. But PJ was no insurance whatsoever. Too true and the statement rather silly.
  21. Given MFC missed on Hale and still cut PJ says alot about how the Club rated him.
  22. I dont see any evidence of that in this thread though.
