Even trade one of our 2nd round pics this year to Geelong or Essendon for their 2nd rounder next year.

"If I go there will be trouble, and if I stay it will be double". Very prophetic.
-
Did he mention anything about trying to upgrade our picks? We could end up with picks 27, 29, 35.
-
The clubs that have been linked to Schache are better off keeping their picks and cap space, and having a crack at Tom Lynch next year. Brisbane aren't going to offload Schache in a fire sale, so there is a fair chance he'll stay.

Petracca and Hannan can play Watts' role. Both are strong in the air or create a contest, which is one of Watts' failings. And T Mac was a better backup ruck than Watts, although Watts was quite good as a follower.
-
I don't disagree with much of what you say. You talk about culture and levels of work. Isn't that the exact reason why Watts has been shunted? And yet Roos comes out and says that you should look at what he can do, rather than the negatives. I stand by my opinion that Roos is full of hot air.
-
BS. He was talked into the job by PJ, and offered a fortune to take it. The reason why PJ was keen to get him was because Roos would not get the same media or public scrutiny as a first time coach if the club had poor results. Through the poor results, we were gifted high draft picks to acquire young talent, which is Jason Taylor's role. We already had Hogan and Viney from Neeld's time. And during his time, Roos was never able to lure a big name to the club. Hibberd, Melksham and Vince came to the club through Goodwin's connection, and Lewis through Viney. You could say Garlett, but he was on the scrapheap at Carlton. So the core of the list is primarily the remnants of Neeld, the acquisitions by Goodwin/Viney, and the recruiting by Taylor. The easiest coaching job in the world is one where you nominate your ending date, and leave before the job is finished. Then he has the nerve to be critical of the club, and especially Goodwin, who he annointed. By your reasoning, if Goodwin is a failure, then so is Roos.

Whereas Watts was a model of consistency.

We won't get pick 20 for Watts. It will be more like pick 33.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/trading-and-drafting/jake-levers-switch-from-adelaide-to-melbourne-edging-closer-20171010-gyy66o.html We're getting closer. This years 1st rounder and next years 1st rounder for Lever plus pick 18 which Adelaide get for Cameron. Seems like swapping of other picks as well. This will leave us without a 1st rounder next year, but picks 18 and 27 this year isn't too bad.

I assume that's a hidden slur on Oliver? If you are privy to such sensitive info about the goings on at the club, you are either trying to bignote yourself, or you have an axe to grind with the club. Either way, I take what you have to say with a grain of salt, because all you are doing is mudraking.

That doesn't mean that he's a good influence on their football. Young people are attracted to good blokes that they can relate to in a social sense. Our best young gun was interviewed on SEN this morning after winning the Bluey. Nobody would guess in a 30 picks who he developed his training habits from this year. Billy Stretch. Oliver said that he copied everything that Stretch did on the track. Can't imagine any of the young guns copying Watts training habits.

Yeah, I think we'll struggle to find a 150 game player on another list that has only had 1 top 5 B&F finish in 9 years, in a team that hasn't played finals.
-
How the fk would Roos know from afar? And what right does Roos have questioning the MFC medical and conditioning staff about how long Watts should have had off for his injury?
-
No, I actually take the word of the current coach and FD ahead of what Roos has got to say. Why didn't Roos mention Watts little trip to Byron?
-
When you miss games because of poor form or due to your own poor preparation, you can't use that as an excuse. Can you imagine if Goodwin brought Watts back from injury via Casey, as Roos is suggesting? This place would have gone into meltdown.
-
Roos gets away with shooting his mouth off without anybody questioning him. I'd take him to task on the above points. - His progress in the latter of his past 2 years resulted in a 21st placed finish in the B&F. But obviously Roos knows better than those that he left in charge. - If Watts isn't an elite endurance player, then what is his role in the team? He's not a KPF. He's hasn't got explosive pace like Garlett. Without elite endurance or pace, you don't survive as an outside player. And Watts needs to take responsibility for his own recovery from injury instead of jetting off to Byron Bay, which Roos conveniently left out. - I can't think of 1 game where Watts has won it off his own boot, let alone 6-8. He may have made a significant contribution, but that's different to being a matchwinner. Roos is full of sh#t.
-
I'm predicting the Lever/Watts partnership to reach the monumental heights of Dravid/Laxman. Our posters fingers will become so withered that we'll be begging for stuie, Rhino Richards and nudge to come out of retirement as our partnership breaker. Well maybe not Rhino Richards.
-
They tell players collectively to be prepared for their name to be thrown up in trade discussions. But to tell an individual player is suicidal. Like I said, other deals could fall through, and the player who was told could crack the sh#ts, and say I want out.
-
So what is to be gained by telling Watts 4 weeks before the AFL season ended that he's up for trade? At this stage, there were no guarantees that Lever is coming to us. And what if Hogan had of requested a trade home? In the event of these occurances, we probably keep Watts. Once again Roos trying to stir the pot, and make himself look good.
-
Nah, he played for Port Adelaide iin the SANFL, so I'd imagine he's a Power and Cats fan.
-
You are living in the '70s. It's what you are doing when you haven't got the ball in your hands that is just as important. The game is all about structures and playing your role. It's a team game, and if Watts isn't playing the role that the coach assigns, then he becomes a liability, regardless of how good his disposal is. If he was averaging 25 possessions a game, I might tend to agree with you.
-
If that's true, he played 5 games after round 14 and polled 8 votes out of a possible 200. That also equates to each selector giving him on average 0.4 out of 10 for his last 5 games played. I find that hard to believe.
-
Who's not telling the correct story? How could Watts have been 6th after 14 rounds when Jetta was 5th on 205, and Watts finished on 172 after 23 rounds? He supposedly had a great start to the year, yet was 11th after 8 rounds. Has someone actually got any proof as to where Watts sat after 14 rounds?
-
Yeah. He's worth more than Gary Ablett. We'll get their 2nd rounder or whatever compensation they get for Motlop.
