  1. This. Blatant trip but the umpire was too scared to call it coz the fans were screaming baaaaaaaaallllllllllllllll and would likely have jumped the fence, ice pipes in hand, ready to decapitate the bloke.
  2. This thread should be locked up and deleted.
  3. Did you watch the next ball up after the Oscar McDonald non decision. West Coast player does exactly the same thing. Ducks his head and is then tackled. No free. That bloke Cripps or whatever his name is, drove into a tackle with his head and got a free kick for too high...the rule was that if you drive with a head its no free. We all saw the bulldust free paid against Vanders for spoiling the ball. Get ya tinfoil hat off and go away.
  4. I think those who purchase memberships after the cut-off date for official memberships should be excluded from purchasing finals tickets, quite frankly. I love those that resist a membership all year and then sign on once we are in the finals. Where is the reward for those who have paid their dues for years and years with no hope of finals. Lucifer, I appreciate that your niece is young and not trying to have a go, but there are a lot of MFC 'supporters' who refuse to buy club membership unless we make finals. It is as fair weather as it gets.
  5. Terrific mate! How good. I had a mate over there yesterday who got refused boarding of his flight hahaha. had to spend an extra night. Said it was one big affternon party!
  6. when does the MRP make its calls from yesterday?
  7. Are we a tenant club? I was always under the impression that we were a home club and I think this was confirmed when we were accepted as a sporting section of the MCC again .. I believe all others are tenant
  8. Vanders was in play and he was going for the ball. If anything it was careless low impact and might earn him a fine. Buddy Franklin has thrown two elbows like this so far this year and has got off. They've done far more damage than today's incident. Oscar cannot be found guilty. It was the textbook tackle. You can't claim that was two actions .he is obligated to bring him to ground. No sling. No driving motion.
  9. Geelong will get Port on % not us. Means we'd finish 8th and they'd finish 7th if you are thinking they roll GC by 130. I am not sure I follow the argument. If we win one match and Essendon win both, their percentage is not about to jump 20 percent ... one of port or essendon lose the last match. so if it is Port, assuming they lose this week, it is their spot that is up for grabs.
  10. Posted on another thread that I spoke to Hunt at last week's game.and he told me his VFL form was rusty. I was staggered to see him selected off the back of one rusty game at Casey. Also he has been coached out of form. He now second guesses everything he does and no longer backs himself and plays on instinct
  11. Somebody has had a few post game lemonades methinks
  12. I ran that argument around the 3rd quarter. Asking him whether he'd followed the bloods in the 90s and how it must be fantastic to follow a team who imports all their marquee players. Sydney is a plastic club with a boring game style. But I still hate copping it as you walk out. Lowest way of giving someone a serve
  13. Jones was absolutely deplorable today. His disposal was atrocious ad we all know his leadership in the tough minutes of a game is non existent. He simply goes missing and doesn't stand up. I love the bloke but as a leader, he isn't where a lot of other captains in the afl are. I'd give the captaincy to Gawn. Not Viney..he will be lucky to play again.
  14. Had an arrogant 'bloods' old codger behind me in the members. Was at it all day. As I left he said "good luck in tge finals loser"...I flicked his cap off his head and left. I bloody hate arse houses like that
  15. As good of a season as we have had and as talented as our list is, I remain of the view that we miss and finish 9th again. That is unless we can beat Swans and GWS. If that happens we are in. I see us only winning 1 out of the remaining 3 and falling to 9th.
  16. I did the ladder predictor this morning, factoring in that we only win 1 of the next three games and had North losing to Adelaide in Adelaide. That saw us finishing 6th. I also had Hawks beating Geelong. Those 2 games are the anomalies I also had North losing to the Doggies. It is really tight. A win this week for us is a must. I think 13 and our percentage will be enough.
  17. Where have you read the news on Rohan and Hannebery? I really don't mind who the put out on the field. I reckon they are gettable. They fell over the line against a seriously undermanned Pies at their home ground. They were carried by Franklin.
  18. The Collingwood first-gamer was an excellent choice for Franklin. We should definitely follow the lead on the one.
  19. spike to Hunt today and he is not ready. Hibberd will miss. Down to Pedo or Wagner. This is not a match to introduce a 1st gamer in.
  20. There were expectations he would be chosen in the top 20 or 25. But 25 had gone and he was still without a club. When it got to 30, draft scribe Brett Anderson, commenting on radio, expressed surprise Balic had been overlooked and had become what the draft aficionados call a “slider’’. In his phantom order of selections Anderson had the Sandringham Dragon being taken by Gold Coast with its original pick 16. Finally, the Mordialloc-Braeside Junior Football Club product’s name came: pick 38, to the Fremantle Dockers. Balic, sitting with his girlfriend, Georgia Ward, his parents, Eddie and Nancy, and brothers Cooper and Jesse, felt a rush of emotions. The first, he said, was relief. Then came the realisation of an interstate move. It daunted him and quickly reduced his mother to tears. - More from the article. Seems like a few clubs were aware of his issues and passed.
  21. Yep. real odd. I heard from a player manager that he was no chance of making AFL as his mental toughness was that bad. They said they would not have touched him. Not really a blight on the kid, probably a lovely bloke and talented kid. However, it takes a lot of mental strength to play elite sport.
  22. Balic calls himself a “bit of mother’s boy’’. He’s particularly close to his mother and she was overwhelmed at the thought of him relocating to Perth. After his selection he went off to do some media with Fremantle. When he returned he saw his dad on the phone in tears. He jokingly said he would pay him $70,000 to stay in Melbourne. Later, as the family gathered for a dinner with Dockers officials, his mother’s eyes were red as she arrived in the foyer. - The above is from his draft interview in the Herald Sun.
  23. The suggestion that Balic isn't a drinker is laughable. Have a look at his Instagram. He certainly enjoys a good time. The rumours out of Freo are that he enjoyed too much of a good time with a certain teammate who notoriously enjoys a 'good time'. Isn't this the same bloke whose Mum offered to pay his salary if he elected not to go to Perth and play football. I mean, what hope did the kid have of having the mental strength to succeed
  24. I've watched it again. The guy used his leg to get a rise and pushed off with his leg and did not touch the footy. My understanding is that you must touch the footy if you jump on someone's back. he definitely when up, used his leg and although it was minor, pushed hogan out with his leg and failed to touch the ball. That is a free kcik according to my understanding. It's soft...but there.
  25. i bet you are a Dom Tyson apologist though? Lewis was a midfielder who has been asked to play back and people wonder why he sometimes makes errors. He is still learning the craft of playing in that spot.
