I would settle for an honourable loss this week. An emasculation by the Hawks could set us back big time.
-
Sylvia's problem is the vacuum between his ears. I would think Freo have egg on their face. Talent will only get you so far.
-
I think the Toump will be OK. Most on this forum saw this year as a development year and without getting appendicitis reckon he would now be playing regularly in the firsts. Naturally he would be a bit [censored] at missing out at this stage of the year.

If people think that an issue like tanking shouldn't influence a club after 5 years should reflect on the Norm Smith sacking. Miasma like that can taint an organisation forever. Roos was very emphatic that tanking was a huge factor in our current predicament and I believe him.

I don't know if Demonlanders remember Graeme Osborne, number 7, in the 60s. Worst kick I've ever seen but knew how to get the ball. His kicks always had a boomerang like curve to them.

Change is always risky and there are always uncertainties and casualties. Don't forget PJ is around looking over his shoulder and I am sure he will be thinking strategically.

I think we have to unconditionally support Roos at the moment. if he can't get us over the current hurdle we may as well give up. Gary Lyon reacted as a fan and vented as is his right but Roos is more calculated and obviously has seen and heard stuff that makes him feel the tanking issue is still hanging over the club and he wants to deal with it openly and once and for all. On a positive note this week may be a turning point for all concerned. He basically has said move on or move out. Can't argue with that.

Hogan won't play against GWS. We're tanking.

Roos is calling it as he sees it. He has access to much more background to our current situation than any of us and is a smart operator. His credibility allows him to tackle stuff head on and he is smart. Often change involves treading a fine line and I trust Roos to do it. There are obviously still unresolved issues to be dealt with and perhaps a purge is required to move forward.

How come where the team with the lowest number of rising star nominations if our recruiting isn't so bad.
-
I'm sorry I can't see how Roos stuffed up the press conference. He was as shell shocked as the fans at the woeful performance and it was refreshing to see his honesty. To think that professional athletes have to be shielded from the consequences of their actions makes no sense. They need to know that what they served up was crap and see the effect it has on the club. That's the only way honesty and accountability will be developed.

Melbourne , a team waiting to be beaten - Paul Roos
chook fowler replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. Couldn't believe that cheap shot. The GWS thing stinks but will go unscrutinised. We will beat GWS and feel good about it but in reality it will mean nothing. You are right Robinson is a bogan. -
Players I don't want to see again: Watts (no physicality), Frawley(overpriced), McKenzie(incompetent), Blease(lair), Strauss(timidity), Nicholson( (can run, that's all), Grimes (underachieved), Evans (stalled), Barry (no idea), Tapscott ( unidimensional ), jamar ( passed it ), Spencer ( can't mark ), Bail ( poor disposal), M. Jones ( no impact), Fitzpatrick ( no progress).

I think collectively Demonlanders suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and performances like the last one cause flashbacks to darker times. The saving grace is that the club is now in good hands and the right decisions will be made. The timing was good for Roos to announce the extension of his contract. It is obvious that significant list changes and development need to occur and that will take more than next years draft.

Players to target at the end of the year
chook fowler replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Players that aren't Princesses haunted by the past. -
See Martin got 10/10 coaches votes. FMD - so much for Jamars per match rhetoric. Typical.

Don't often agree with Mark Robinson but he was on the money expressing disbelief that Demon players get paid as much as Hawthorns. They are paid as professionals, it's time they acted like it. -
Meant for the Merrett thread.
-
Not to forget Geelongs ruck man King smashing his knee into Goeff Whites face. A sickening injury that as I recall went unpunished.
-
He was gone months ago. It's all been pretence and hypocrisy. Would love to see him dropped for the rest of the year with no farewell game or acknowledgement.
-
What a farce - AFL are so hypocritical. They play favourites with interstate teams. Not a good week - footy is doing my blood pressure major damage.

in: Gawn, Cross, Michie, Strauss Out: Pederson, McKenzie, Tapscott, Blease

If getting ahead of ourselves means expecting players to kick 10 metre goals, hit targets 15 metres away and not handball to players feet then I'm guilty. The Lionswere younger and more inexperienced than us and yet we looked to be the rookies. It was a lazy, brain dead performance and as fans we have every right to be angry about it.
-
If that's the case McKenzie shouldn't be there. Roos looked as bewildered as the fans and said that he hadn't seen anything like it in his time in footy. Damning words.
