The contrast in the performance of our current recruiters to years past is amazing. We are landing desirable players not just NQRs and beating other clubs in the process. Looks to be another good get and our list is becoming immeasurably improved.

To say someone may have a mental health issue is not disrespectful and it was meant to be. Anyway I probably shouldn't have posted my view but I am involved in the treatment of many such people and his behaviour raised some red flags. I always get concerned when people isolate themselves - I hope he does have some supports.

His speech at the best and fairest was odd and his inability to let go of the coaching position when he said previously he didn't want it was a dramatic turn around. The Suns quickly withdrew their interest - some sort of alarm bells were ringing. He has withdrawn from the Coaches association, put the AFL seriously offside and has not spoken to Hird for a month without making it clear if he will stay with the Dons or not. His Press conference performances were entertaining but eccentric. He has really isolated himself and looks to have no chance of getting a football dept position anytime soon. There is something not right.

I think he was on a hiding to nothing. The club had deep seated problems and he was under specific instructions from those that appointed him to be a hard ass I.e G Lyon et al.

Probably not a good idea to compare. I was thinking of his size, leap and ability to kick a goal as a mid. That's all.

I can't compare to others because I don't know enough about them but it seems to me Laverde would complement Brayshaw, Tyson and Viney nicely in the midfield. He is of good size, has balance and poise. The real points of difference seems to be his ability to take a mark with a good spring and he kicks goals. Marking, goal kicking mids are gold and this is where the comparison to Fyffe seems apt.
