It is a very complex issue and I don't think simplistic explanations will further our understanding of what really is going on. There has to be a racist element to it which is despicable but I can't believe that everyone who has been booing over the past months is motivated by racist intent. I wonder if it has become a protest movement against political correctness and people having the feeling that they are constantly being lectured about what is right and wrong. People feel like they are being treated as idiots. I don't believe it is fair that Goodes is bearing the brunt of this and I condemn those that boo but I think a deeper exploration of the origins of this phenomenon is needed.

Hard to generate any enthusiasm for this game. If they do win it raises the question what happened to the effort that allowed 3 winnable games end as horrible losses. If they lose with the Pies not having a key forward it is yet another ignominious defeat.

I can't understand those that want Spencer. His VFL review was horrible. Good to see ANB have a really good game - shows great attitude. I have a feeling Fitz has now cooked his goose as he hasn't been able to maintain his form. Newton got a good rap as well. I would be surprised if JKH makes it - wants to be flashy but doesn't have the pace or skills and a very suspect work ethic. Would like to see Jamar come in for this game. I think you've got the wrong idea but nice to see some passion. I meant that we as supporters will have to suck it up until those that are not good enough or don't care are given the boot. And given our good recent recruiting I'm sure that will happen.

It's not just about Roos - it's the development team of McCartney, Goodwin, Plapp etc having time to make a difference. They have been at the club less than 12 months and already achieving. Gawn, Viney and Watts being the best examples, and Salem before injury. There is absolutely no point in changing direction now that the fundamentals are in place. No doubt several of the losses should never have occurred but it is a sign that there are list changes that need to be made and the game plan is still evolving. In the mean time we just have to suck it up..

I'm as mystified as you. The only thing I can point to still is recruiting. It has been too unidimensional, picking big bodied inside mids without acceleration and leg speed. Michie, Riley, Newton, Vanders are all similar types with similar deficiencies.We really have been unlucky with injuries to Salem and Kent who are the exact type of players we need. I suspect Petracca will be important because by all accounts his style is explosive. We are also short a big defender and we are paying the price for Frawley leaving. Riewoldt has destroyed us twice and Daniher and Cloke both have had days out in recent times. Our club is the Bermuda Triangle for skills. If you have any when you come in to the place they soon disappear. God knows why. I also question our game plan that is now outmoded. The two bolters of recent times, Port and the Dogs have done so by taking the game on with speed and carry and have not been ultra defensive. As usual we are one step behind and always playing catch up because we are bereft of innovation and pro activity.
