Melbourne asks for draft assistance
FireInTheBennelly replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
PJ isn't stupid, I reckon he knew all along there'd be no assistance, and that's why he made it clear publicly that we hadn't requested a PP. This was all meant to be a message to players and supporters alike. The AFL aren't going to help us, they'll more than likely hinder us, we need to do this ourselves. We need to dig deep and do the hard yards. That means players putting in extra, getting better, that means fans turning up to support, that means a culture throughout the club of a burning desire to succeed. This is why PJ wanted Roos, the culture master. He's sitting in the background pulling the strings and it's slowly coming together. This will bind the players and they will start to fight, like we haven't seen for 8 years. Fight the power. Looking forward to big progress in 2015 and some serious momentum from there. -

McKenzie? Oh you mean John Butcher, not 'The Butcher'. Apologies, Carry on. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
FireInTheBennelly replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is another possibility. Just as Middleton knows if he finds in favour of Essendon, ASADA can almost immediately gather the same information, he would also know that if he finds in favour of ASADA, Essendon will almost certainly launch an appeal - further delaying their due ars-kicking. He might decide in the interests of a speedy resolution it's far more beneficial to find the evidence was gathered illegally and forcing ASADA to do it properly (which they can). It's dotting I's and crossing T's stuff, and that's the only way to get this sorted without Essendon interference/delaying tactics. -
Not to mention the only photo they could manage to dig up shows the Essendon sponsorship brigade in the background. This is not about the drug cheats, and their sponsors should not be receiving exposure. MFC should ask them to withdraw that image.

If Carlton are in the race for everyone, then surely that means they have to let some players go. Yes Robinson and Garlett, but are they prepared to trade anyone with value? Carlton could well be a tree worth shaking, see what comes loose. Obviously after we've finished smashing the Adelaide tree......

Makes sense to me

If anyone thinks re-signing Riley was....
FireInTheBennelly replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Advice for anyone with criticism of Riley. Go home, snap your leg in half, and see how [censored] well you can kick a football in 8 or so months. If that option doesn't sound appealing, shut the [censored] up!- 91 replies

Haven't seen much of him, but by quarter time I think it was clear he could be trusted to find a target coming out of defense. I found it strange that my heart wasn't in my mouth expecting the next kick to be a turnover. He's in elite company at MFC. 100% certain round 1 2015, fully fit, he starts. And shows plenty from there.

I felt tonight was a bit like an apology. Sorry for all the stupid [censored] up holding the ball (etc) decisions through the season, here's an 'in the back' for ya champ. But still those HTB calls were horrendous. Felt like TMac should have let the umpire have it, and he almost did. I mean he'd already made it a certain goal with the 50, make it count, make a point of telling this clown how [censored] wrong he was. All of those decisions throughout the year were disgraceful, but that's not what pisses me off the most. What I find completely out of control is how we're called to play on after a mark if we even look sideways. WTF? Every other team is allowed to look around and take a step or two off the mark for an option, not us. If we look sideways it's [censored] play on. Umpires G&GF

I think I'm losing the plot. I could swear I just saw Dawes take a one touch grab

How's the tackle count looking......
-
Centre bounce. WC player, tackled, throws it, WC player tackled, throws it, WC player tackled, high free kick. Inside 50, goal. We're no bloody good, but give us a break!

Is 11 tackles in a quarter acceptable?

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 22

I like it. Roosy basically saying if you muppets refuse to go forward spotting up a target and are so desperate to just bomb it in, let's see how that works for ya. I'll even give you every match fit tall forward on the list to bomb it towards. Go your hardest! Presumably when this fails miserably the players will realise it's a waste of frigging time and they might start trying the actual game plan -
Roos' Post game press conference
FireInTheBennelly replied to champagne football's topic in Melbourne Demons
Players are clearly unable to execute basic football skills under minimal pressure. I suggest Roosy gets in touch with Melbourne Storm. Ask them if they have 5 players in need of some tackling practice. Split us into 2 teams at training for a match simulation with the 5 Storm players instructed to tackle the crap out of anyone with the ball. Time to get used to extreme pressure -
they're up to 2 off already. Its not even half time. Will be interesting to watch how they capitulate in the last quarter to lose after being in front all day
