  1. If a guy does a press conference wearing the jumper to me that means its a done deal

Technically aren't there 2 days left until Hawthorn definitely don't match Sydneys offer for Franklin? You saying that isn't done yet?

Hawthorn have said they won't match it, which means the deal goes through before the three days is up
  2. The only free agent who might take more than a week to move, if he moves at all, will be Dal. The delisted free agents are different though, as clubs may wait to see how the rest of the trade period goes before deciding. So maybe free agency goes for a week, then the trade period (2 weeks max), then the delisted free agency period.

  3. If we go that trade route, we may as well just let them keep pick 38.

Fairly useless in this year's weak draft.

Don't forget it'll be pushed out later once the FA compo picks are added.

If pick 38 isn't holding up the process, then I'd take it! Viney and co. did a great job with high picks last year, would love to see that again

  4. I hope we get a little creative, maybe even jump in with some other trades going on. For example instead of just pick 2 for Shiel, how about we try and work in with Sydney as well. They have to try and work out getting something for Mumford.

    Might work like this-

we give pick 2 and 22 (col's compo) and get Shiel (GWS), Smith and pick 31 (Syd).

GWS get pick 2 and Mumford and lose Shiel (us) and pick 20 and 22

Syd lose Mumford and pick 31 and get pick's 20 and 22

Just throwing it out that a little bit of creativity might get us more than just a straight pick for player.

Sydney lose Mumford, smith and pick 31 for 20 and 22... Not to sure they're that generous

  5. Certainly puts paid to any 'Go Home' factor... Stressing about one rising star leaving is enough

My only worry is... Is he a Scully 2.0? Super fit, can run all day, stands out in underage games but not so much AFL?

From what I've heard he has better skills, anyone care to confirm?

  6. Similar sort of luck...Ottawa hasn't EVER won...worse than the Dees!

I've hated Ottawa since they met the Leafs about 4 years in a row in the playoffs...it's a great rivalry! Well, it was. They haven't played in the playoffs since then and the Sens have had the upper hand in recent years. Can't wait until the next time we face you guys in the playoffs!

How are the leafs looking this year? Hopefully they can clash in the playoffs this year, as long as the Sens can keep Karlsson et al on the ice most of the season, and the young guys step up again.

  7. Mahoney- "if a player has been in the system for 20-30 games and his 24-25 yeas of age that would be pick 2 worthy.

That must be a misquote. If we want a 24-25 year old mid we want one with 60-100 games ready to go not one that barely played.

Was a slight misquote. Mahoney said they considered a 21-22 year old as an experienced player, up to 24-25 years old. So look in that age bracket.

Song did a great job paraphrasing everything else though.

  8. Can we or should we do a deal with a scenario of a Shaw & Sylvia trade?

I like Shaws aggression at the ball which Sylvia never wants to display IMO so I would entertain it happening maybe.

    Now I think of it...

If Daisy leaves the colliwobbles, they may not want to dilute his FA compo by signing another FA. So trade Sylvia and shaw?

  9. how i can see us getting him in a perfect world:

Colin Sylvia informs melbourne he wants to leave the club, melbourne have a little chat with collingwood and offer the swap, collingwood dont realise that they can get sylvia for free as a free agent, and let us trade shaw for sylvia.

otherwise although he would be the perfect player for our list i feel that we dont have the bait to get the job done, maybe blease?

Or, instead of collingwood not realising he's a FA, we sign him up, then go 'ha, just joshing, get you a** to collingwood', and trade for shaw....

    But seriously, no.

  10. On SEN on harf time, a guy (Russell Barwick?) said he was at the giants GF function and they were all saying Stone has signed with us.

Harf contacted the club who denied he had signed yet.

BT he was adamant it was a done deal and Roos name is not loved up thre at the moment. :)

    Edit, typo

Yeah, Sydney have all but conceded the let Stone go to be with Melbourne, as he lives there and commutes.

May not have put pen to paper yet, but will happen

  11. From what I understand, the swans have access to kids from certain NSW areas that would otherwise not be introduced to AFL, to help develop the game in that state. They take them quite young, and then try to develop them. In return for their investment, they get to select them as a rookie....

I think. Feel free to correct if wrong

  12. While I Want other clubs hating us because we're ruthless, I don't want to be known as the elite club who has to go crying to the AFL bigwigs when we don't get our way.

I want them to hate us because people want to come to us, both players, coaches and officials. I want them to hate us because we are elite, both on and off the field.

  13. I get the feeling that there were a few people who, while excited about us getting Roos, thought he would just do his time, collect his pay check and then go back to being a Sydney man... Roos himself said that the last two or three days have galvanised that his is no longer a Swan.

If it wasn't the case already, Colless has absolutely seen to it that Roos is well and truly a Demon.

  14. yeah, its a speech impediment. Doesn't have any american in him, never been to america, just somehow picked up this accent

That actually happens a lot. I worked with a guy who had a speech impediment when he was younger and he had an accent too. I wonder whether it is due to tapes that teach them to speak coming from the US, or if it's just easier to speak with an American accent
  15. The lockout's officially over! Teams are expected to play a 48 game season in addition to the regular playoff fixture. The schedule should be released in the coming days.

Was in Canada from the 29th of November til the 16th of January... Had to go and watch the '67's to get my hockey fix...

Although, was having randoms come up and congratulate me when in Florida while wearing my sens jersey after the end to the lockout was announced.

  16. Sorry, I meant for pick 1, I should've clarified, it was something I read the other day.

IMO journo's have decent credibility at the moment because someone is leaking them privy information out of the AFL - as we seen throughout the drug saga.

If we were to land pick 19, it would be a tremendous result, I can't remember a year where the difference between pick 2 and pick 19 is so minimal.

It's a very even draft, evidenced by some experts having blokes like Crouch as low as 3 and as high as 20, same with Sheed.

So. If we have pick 19 and 20, do we take Zak Jones with one of them?
