Cannot fault their effort. Can fault their brains and skills. This all feels very familiar.

Agree he rarely gets beaten but he seems to be getting to less contests and is not having much impact on the scoreboard or up the ground. This week I suggest is the week to not play him as Taylor as you have suggested will likely give him a bath and Smith cant be ommitted on last weeks game.

No disrespect to JVR because he will be a beauty but interested why no one seems to put him up for omission. 2 goals and 6 marks in this last 2 games and generally having limited impact. I know he is the future but he is not impacting enough at the minute and will likely tire in a long second season for him. I would bring in Tomlinson (who should never been dropped aside from him lacking a match up last round) and back to Petty forward. We also cant rely on Hibberd as he gives his all but his body cant sustain quarter by quarter, let alone week to week. Jordon and Spargo are honest toilers but we have players at Casey who we should start exposing at senior level in front of them. In Tomlinson, Bowey, Woewodin Out JVR, Hibberd, Jordon NBL: Laurie or Harmes as sub.

Pretty reasonable side. Only player inclusion I question is Neales inclusion. That as well as the traditional lack of respect that wing is a specialist role and not just the place you extend the centre square mids you want to include to avoid tough decisions.

Does it matter how many goals kicked on Tomlinson when you keep a team with 2 Coleman medallist’s to 44 points? Our defence has not looked that good in some time. Have you forgotten what Casboult did with his extra 15kgs to Turner? How do you think he would have gone with McKay? Hibbo for Bowser Oliver for Harmes One of Spargo/Chandler as sub. That is all.

Yep I understand you dont need to agree with me nor would I think many would. I dont think there is anything clear cut with this weeks changes. I do think its fair if you are going to dis someone’s view (thats a guaranteed loss) you at least give some basis or have one of your own to counter with. I see you have at least now have provided some of both which I appreciate.

Turner has played 5 minutes of an AFL game before getting injured and then asked to give up 17kgs to an opponent in the other. This week against Amiss is a perfect match up for him and he is in excellent VFL form. Laurie has not set the world on fire in his two games. However he is consistently too good for VFL and offers polish and poise we lack. What changes would you make? Do you think last weeks side matches well against Freo who are starting to gain form?

I dont think so. Turner and Laurie are ready to be promoted to the right roles and I can see them developing at AFL level having good quality AFL careers with us. Tomlinson, Harmes, Jordon you know what you are going to get week to week if needed. I cant see Brown getting back close to 2021 and J Smith is showing some signs forward. The others are too early to tell but I think some of them show promising signs but we should not need them this year it should be all about developing them for next onwards.

Why? Did you watch Turner dominate in the VFL yesterday? Would you not prefer Lever play the intercept role rather than as a tall defender? Do you understand that Sparrow is important to our structure and that we risk lacking the leg speed against Freo?

In Turner, Laurie, Sparrow Out Bowey (Inj), Hunter (susp), Jordon (omitted) Brayshaw to the wing. Laurie as sub. Turner (to play on Amiss not someone 17kg heavier than him this time) and Laurie (forward-mid rotation) both show consistent VFL that should translate well to AFL promotion.

Turner is too good for VFL consistently. We should promote him this week but not play him on someone he is 17 kilos lighter than like the Suns game. Laurie is moving toward a similar position and should be given opportunity during the year. Schache deserves a game ahead of Brown. Joel Smith was good but in spurts. Jordon had a Jordon game. Howes, Jefferson, Adams and Sestan all shows signs but need another preseason or two to see where it takes them. Not convinced that Woewodin, D Smith or Moniz Wakefield can become good AFL players.

Should be further behind. Look understimulated and playing safe. 6 touches in total between Trac and Viney. Need to get some heat on the contest and some pressure when the ball, comes to ground inside 50. Surely we have the highest % of giving away goals in the last minute of quarters?

I am sure he will be managed at a point but McVee’s current form has him in all year. In current form when Salem returns I suggest Brayshaw and Rivers play more midfield time and Sparrow may be in the gun. Otherwise I can see us rotating the management of Old Man Hibberd with the younger half backs (McVee, Bowey, Rivers) to keep them fresh. Unsure where he played his junior footy but I can see McVee moving into our midfield in the coming years.

Salem available (with two weeks of match load at training) with Casey on bye and us playing the Hawks adds another layer of selection intrigue.

Whilst I think BBB will come in, be careful what you wish for being Mac Andrew was knocking him off contests yesterday. JVR does not get much ball other than in patches nor does Petty but not many teams defeat us in an aerial contest in our forward 50. I think that is the bit that matters most to the coaches and is why we are averaging 110points a game.
