  1. My thoughts on TMac are based purely on his ability to talk in front of the media. As someone else mentioned in the Co-Captains Model thread you need a mix of PR person and leader on the field which is why Max and Jack make a good pairing if you have to go down the Co route. As for TMac's on field leadership role I cannot speak to. For some reason I do think it's important to have leaders across all lines. TMac for mine seems like the best option up forward.
  2. Seven years ago, we kicked off a series of women's football exhibition matches against the Bulldogs. Tomorrow night, we'll go up against them again, with a few familiar faces on either side. ?: Seven years later: O’Dea ready to take on the Dogs
  3. I think TMac into the leadership group is a no brainer. Well spoken and key player in the forward line. Hard to see Jetta not being in the group. We keep hearing and, if you head down to training see, how good a leader Lever is. Playing Devil's Advocate he does have a susceptibility to injury. He's had 2 ACLs. We need leaders on the field. Perhaps that is me being a little harsh. On paper I like Lever as a leader. Never really thought of Melksham in that way.
  4. Semi-related in terms of numbers. Recent years have seen the Dees cut down the numbers of people in the Leadership Group. A number of years ago I recall having a large group. Do you prefer a smaller group? Brisbane have named a 9 man leadership group this year meaning that half the players on the field are officially "leaders".
  5. With the Captaincy likely to be announced in the coming days/week who do you think will form the 2020 Leadership Group? 2019 Leadership group Nathan Jones (co-captain) Jack Viney (co-captain) Max Gawn Neville Jetta With Nathan Jones vacating the captaincy does he still retain a spot in the Leadership Group? Who else deserves a call up? Tom McDonald? Jake Lever? Steven May?
  6. Last year when we lost the first two on the trot the stats were that not many teams ever make the finals from 0-2. 0-3 would be a disaster.
  7. What’s your 2020 Doomsday Scenario? Another Preliminary Final heartbreak ?, Demons start season 0-3 ?: Your AFL club’s doomsday scenario >>> Your AFL club’s doomsday scenario for 2020 season MELBOURNE – The Demons start the season 0-3 It’s a long way back when you start the season with three losses on the trot – and Simon Goodwin’s side don’t have the easiest of introductions in 2020. The Demons travel to Perth to play West Coast in Round One before taking on GWS at the MCG in Round Two. In both matches, Melbourne’s opposition will start as favourites. A home game against Fremantle in Round Three shapes as the club’s best opportunity to walk away with the four points, but even that match isn’t straightforward. But start the season at 0-3 and you can all but kiss finals goodbye.
  8. Are you referring to the following tweet? I believe the vote he is referring to is about the Saints. AFL.COM.AU article yesterday regarding the Dees captaincy mentioned voting & announcement in the coming weeks. "MELBOURNE is poised to vote on its captaincy structure in the coming weeks" Also added that "the Demons didn't hold the leadership group vote on their recent Maroochydore training camp and have 10 days before their first Marsh Community Series game."
  9. It's a sport in itself.
  10. EXCLUSIVE: AFL men may be asked to give up future extra earnings to AFLW players, if the AFL cannot secure a significant increase in the TV rights money. Male players may give up cash to fund AFLW pay rises
  11. A little love tap from May might be in order early on.
  12. Demons' captaincy decision close, plus what happened to the CEO?
  13. WEST Coast spearhead Jack Darling has suffered a pre-season setback after fracturing his cheekbone at training. He will miss the first Marsh Series match and is unlikely to play in the second game. May be available for Round 1 against the Demons. Jeremy McGovern & Tom Barrass are likely to miss the start of the season.
  14. Spargo trained with the full group today. Here is the full "injury" list. 15. My attempt at humour got lost in text form.
  16. I took Hibberd, Melksham and Spargo off the list after the training report and added Corey Wagner (Iced Knee) and Tom McDonald (rolled ankle - hopefully minor).
  17. I have no idea what you mean.
  18. This does nothing to ease my anxiety as you are just shuffling more players out of position. Help! The sky is literally falling.
  19. Updated injury list based on training reports including suspected minor ankle roll to TMac. PLAYER INJURY LENGTH Angus Brayshaw Elbow TBA Kade Chandler Wrist TBA Kyle Dunkley Ankle TBA Max Gawn Knee TBA Mitch Hannan ???? 20. @Satyriconhome did you wish Nev a happy birthday?
  21. It excites me too unfortunately due to injuries he'll be forced to be played out of position in the ruck. [censored] it's hard to be a Melbourne supporter.
  22. Thanks @Scoop Junior. I've updated the injury list. PLAYER INJURY LENGTH Angus Brayshaw Elbow TBA Kade Chandler Wrist TBA Kyle Dunkley Ankle TBA Max Gawn Knee TBA Mitch Hannan ???? TBA Steven May Knee TBA Harrison Petty ???? 23. With Preuss out and a cloud over Gawn's readiness will Luke Jackson get a call up for Round 1? The players primed for a Round 1 debut from your club MELBOURNE Luke Jackson couldn’t have been more impressive as the No. 3 pick, playing ruck, midfield and forward in match simulation. But he would have to get past Tom McDonald and Sam Weideman, with Kosi Pickett’s best eye-catching on the track but the young Demon still finding consistency that will result in a VFL start to the season.

  25. Now this is mildly depressing. 11 flags for ex-Dees since 91. The 1991 premiership won by Hawthorn was the last time a premiership team consisted solely of players who had not originally played for another club. Since then 118 flags have won been won by players who had left their original club. Melbourne lead this ladder with 11 flags won by 7 different individuals. They also hold the longest stretch of premiership years having ex players win the flag from 2001 to 2006 in Martin Pike Brisbane 2001-2003, Matthew Bishop Port Adelaide 2004, Darren Jolly Sydney 2005 and Steven Armstrong West Coast 2006. Pike previously won a flag with North Melbourne in 99 whilst Jolly won another flag for Collingwood in 2010. The others are Earl Spalding (Carlton 95), Clay Sampson (Adelaide 97) and James Frawley (Hawthorn 15). Collingwood, West Coast, Adelaide have also had four year stretches along with Sydney who are currently on a four year run with Shane Biggs (Bulldogs 2016), Toby Nankervis (Richmond 17&19) and Lewis Jetta (WCE 18).
