Injury List - Season 2018
According to the brief training report from DeeSpencer in the Training Thread Jetta, Lewis, Neal-Bullen, Vanders and McKenna didn't train. Harmes was doing kicking and laps away from the main group. Most likely none of them will play in JLT 2. Watch this space for Round 1.

Injury List - Season 2018
According to the Herald Sun today this is our current injury list. MELBOURNE INJURY LIST Jack Viney (foot) Jordan Lewis (calf) Dom Tyson (calf) Jeff Garlett (rib) Dean Kent (shoulder) Aaron vandenBerg (foot) Joel Smith (left) Jordan Lewis will miss Thursdayâs night clash with St Kilda at Casey Fields as he battles a calf issue. The former Hawk suffered a minor strain in his teamâs first JLT clash over North Melbourne. âScans have shown a minor strain and at this stage we wonât take any risks during this period and he wonât play JLT two,â Demons footy boss Josh Mahoney said. âBut weâre confident heâll be available for round one, as heâs done a full pre-season, has got a lot of confidence in his legs and heâs an experienced player.â The Dees are hopeful Jack Viney will be fit to face the Cats in Round 1, while Dom Tyson will be assessed before the club decides whether heâll play the Saints. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/collingwood-to-miss-host-of-big-names-for-opening-jlt-series-clash/news-story/364f74292badef582535bc48c0fd5e63 Pat McKenna always gets forgotten. Anyone else need to be added to this list? Opposition Watch for JLT #2: ST KILDA INJURY LIST Jack Billings (hamstring) Nathan Freeman (hamstring) Jimmy Webster (hip) Saints fans will hope to see Jack Billings in the clubâs second JLT clash on Thursday night. St Kida faces Melbourne at Casey Fields and Alan Richardsonâs team will hope to hit back after an ordinary first-up outing against Carlton. Jarryn Geary sat out much of his sideâs loss to the Blues on Wednesday night, but there werenât any other concerns for the Saints. Just three first-choice St Kilda players werenât available for the Blues clash. Nathan Freemanâs latest hamstring setback will see him put on ice for some time. Paddy McCartin and David Armitage made impressive returns to footy at Ikon Park last week, while top draft picks Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield also impressed coach Alan Richardson. Opposition Watch for Round 1: GEELONG INJURY LIST Gary Ablett (hamstring) Scott Selwood (ankle) Patrick Dangerfield (sore back) Lachie Henderson (knee) Lincoln McCarthy (groin/hip) Tim Kelly (leg) Youngster Tim Kelly firmed for a Round 1 debut after an impressive display against the Suns, although he will be sore this week after copping a knock to the knee. Cats assistant Matthew Knights wasnât worried about the injury, declaring after the game Kelly could have played out the match. The Cats fielded an inexperienced team that was without Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood, Gary Ablett and Harry Taylor. Of that quartet, only Ablett is doubtful for Geelongâs second JLT match against Essendon this Sunday. Lachie Henderson and Scott Selwood are still recovering from their respective injuries. However, mature-aged rookie Stewart Crameri is a chance to play his former club, and Brandan Parfitt is also in the mix.

Family Day 2018 Returns to the 'G (Sunday 4/3/18)
We are blessed to have Max at the club. His popularity transcends the MFC and he would be just as popular at a mixed team event with opposition fans. I can't remember having such a widely popular player in the modern era. Jimmy perhaps.

Family Day 2018 Returns to the 'G (Sunday 4/3/18)
I think it was disappointing that there were no rides there. I promised my 9 year old that there would be rides. Not sure I will be able to get her to go next year without rides. I agree with what someone said earlier that there should be an autograph station where select players are at a table and you only need to line up once. Queues are not kid friendly and if you have to queue up for 10 players each the waiting adds up. I think that having the players at the head of the line for activities is a great idea too.

Salem ready to make his mark
That was my feeling too. He's a silky smooth player who just never got a good/long enough run at it without a string of injuries & the thyroid problem. I think the midfield role will suit him better than playing off the halfback.

Salem ready to make his mark
Looking forward to big things from Salem this year. He has threatened for the past few years to have his "breakout" season but obviously injuries, illness and suspensions have hampered him. Apparently came back to preseason training already in great nick. I just loved this from the linked article below. According to Champion Data, Salem attended the second-most centre bounces (21) of any Melbourne player against North Melbourne in Saturday's JLT Community Series hit-out in Tasmania, just one less than clearance specialist Clayton Oliver. Salem gathered 19 disposals at 84.2 per cent efficiency, winning five clearances and contributing two goal assists in a standout performance. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-27/bulkedup-dee-set-to-make-his-midfield-mark

Injury List - Season 2018
McKenna was mentioned as the forgotten man because he was not included on the list despite being injured (again). As such he is not back in full training. The track watchers might be able to give a better update on where is he at.

Melbourne at the tribunal/MRP 2018
Having looked at the video about 50 times I can't believe that this is the actual incident he was fined for. If this sets the precedent for the season then this will be ole Gil at seasons end.

I guess it depends on whether the fist is open or closed.

Unfortunately Clarry has become the first victim of the new MRP, MC if you like, cracking down on the jumper/gut punch. It appears that force plays a part only in the severity of the penalty. Love taps obviously fall into the fine category. Having said that I'm sure that some AFL favourites will get off scott free. *cough* Dusty *cough*

He's already accepted the $1500 with an early plea. It would have been $2500.

Injury List - Season 2018
Injury list - 26 February, 2018 Jeff Garlett (rib) Dean Kent (shoulder) Jordan Lewis (calf) Joel Smith (left) Dom Tyson (calf) Aaron vandenBerg (foot) Jack Viney (foot) âConcerns for Melbourne out of their win over North Melbourne on Saturday with veteran Jordan Lewis straining his calf. Lewis, who was one of the best on ground in the first quarter, was forced from the field in the second term and played no further part. The Demons are confident the former Hawk will be fit for Round 1 but are likely to take a cautious approach with the 31-year-old. Dom Tyson also suffered a calf injury, this time at training, and didnât play against the Kangaroos. Coach Simon Goodwin has declared Jack Viney a definite starter in Round 1 despite developing stress fractures in his foot and could return for the clubâs second pre-season game against St Kilda on March 8. Jeff Garlett (rib) and Dean Kent (shoulder) werenât considered for the clash against North Melbourne. Aaron VandenBerg had foot surgery in June last year and is still a while away.â

Melbourne at the tribunal/MRP 2018
A player remains eligible for the Brownlow Medal under the following circumstances: if he is suspended during the finals or pre-season; if he serves a suspension in the current season which was earned for an offence committed late in the previous season; he receives any sort of club-imposed suspension which is not recognised by the AFL Tribunal; if he is found guilty by the AFL Tribunal of an offence which attracts only a financial penalty.

Melbourne at the tribunal/MRP 2018
More information from here: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-26/match-review-jlt-community-series-round-one Clayton Oliver, Melbourne, has been charged with misconduct against Ben Jacobs, North Melbourne, during the first quarter of Saturdayâs JLT match between Melbourne and North Melbourne, played at Hobart on Saturday February 24, 2018. In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction without appearing before the Tribunal. Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the North Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as misconduct. A first offence for misconduct draws a $2500 sanction at the discretion of the Match Review Officer. The player can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Agreed. It should not have been a free kick.
