The new Destination Club:- 2018 Player Reviews: # 14 Michael Hibberd
MR INDISPENSABLE The value of Michael Hibberd can be measured by how much the 2017 All Australian defender was missed during his four game absence with a quad injury. Upon his return, the Demons immediately lifted with the benefit of rebound and run out of defence to beat four finals teams in the run up to the Preliminary Final loss in Perth. He simply adds to the team’s structure and his stable influence down back makes him virtually indispensable. NOT MUCH OF A STRETCH Poor form and injury severely hampered Billy Stretch’s 2018 campaign. He spent much of the early part of the year at Casey and played only two games at AFL level. Unfortunately, after a series of good performances at VFL level, he returned to his best with an excellent 24 possessions against Fremantle in the slippery conditions in Darwin but was diagnosed with a stress fracture to the toe in the week after that game and missed the remainder of the season. UNLUCKY KENT Kent's season was once again blighted by injuries that came at the wrong time for him. He suffered hamstring injury early in the ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers and later damaged an AC joint in Round 23 that kept him out of the finals. He was good around goals in his five games this year at Melbourne but he is now bound for St Kilda. hypothetical = waiting for Jesse's decision and waiting for Lachie Neale trade results and waiting to see whether we or Freo blink first.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Until the Lachie Neale deal is done I don't expect we'll hear any news regarding Jesse Hogan.- 2018 Player Reviews: # 17 Sam Frost
FROSTY After languishing at Casey for all bar two matches in the first 15 rounds and being initially overlooked for a spot in defence after Jake Lever’s injury, Sam Frost took his opportunity when selected against Fremantle in Round 16 and never looked back adding his strong marking, pace and rebounding style to the team’s key defensive area. MILKSHAKE The medium forward booted 32 goals in a year that saw him complete a top ten finish in the club best and fairest. His was at his best with game-swinging goals against West Coast in Round 22 and Hawthorn in the Semi Final while he was sublime against Carlton in mid season with a massive five goals, 21 disposals and 15 score involvements rated the fifth best of the decade. Melksham was ranked first in the competition for goal assists, with 33 overall. THE GOAL MAN The highlight of Hannan’s year was his goal on the run that heralded the win over Geelong in the Elimination Final. It was one of 22 for the season (the same number he kicked last year on debut) that included an important three goal haul against the Eagles. Was hampered by some knee issues and an early bout of indifferent form which saw him at Casey in a few occasions during the year.
