Throw the cheque book at Jonathan Brown, who is out of contract. With the retirements of Yze, Neitz, White and Holland we will have money to burn. Aim to get him in the PSD, thefore giving nothing to Brisbane.

Trade Brock McLean and our priority pick (pick 17) for pick 2 in the draft. Trade Cameron Bruce for pick 10-15. This will give us picks 1, 2, 16 and the pick gained from Bruce. Thats 4 in the top 20.

Trade Michael Newton and a 4th rounder to Adelaide for Nathan Bock.

Trade Daniel Bell back home to Port Adelaide for Steven Salpoek.

Draft

1 - Daniel Rich

2 - Nicholas Natanui

Possible 2009 team

B - Pettard Bock Carroll

HB - Frawley Rivers Wonemarri

C - Salopek Morton Davey

HF - Bate Dunn Sylvia

F - Maric J.Brown Green

R - Natanui Jones Rich

I/C - P.Johnson McDonald Bartram Buckley

Emer - Robertson Whelan Grimes

I stopped reading when you said we should trade Brock McLean.

Lets get rid of our best contested ball winner and become even more useless.

Do you understand that once we get a decent team around him, McLean's ball-winning ability will become invaluable? Can you think of even one premiership side that had no contested ball winners and couldn't win the clearances?

jaded

I have him being traded with pick 17 to acqure pick 2. This is so we can get Daniel Rich, and Natanui

Rich is a freak of nature. If you want a ball winner, then thats what he is (and a lot more)

Its a small price to pay to get the best kid in the land. He is a definite superstar, and will impact straioght away (already dominating the seniors in Perth)

I also have us getting Salopek. We will have more than enough quality ballwinners

Judd got traded for 3 and a player and pick 20. What makes you think McLean plus 17 would be worth pick 2.

Bruce would not get a pick 10-15. You are on the record saying he is soft over paid and over hyped. On what basis do you think he would attract that sort of pick.

Nice one.

And which stupid club will give us pick 2 if Rich is as good as you say he is?

I'm glad I didn't read past "Trade Brock McLean".

Another fine post from the sniiffling country member.

Now I realize why they see Y_M as funny because it is ridiculous to read his incredible ideas. Ridiculously FUNNY!!!

Magic , just stick to being a SAD sniffling country member.

No way in hell Brown will be leaving Brisbane, and if he did, he's too honorable to leave them with nothing.

No way known you would get Salopek for Bell in a straight swap.

And no way known we would get Bock for Newton and a draft pick.

There is no quick fix for the problems we currently have.

Forget 2009 as a rebound year.....it won't happen!

We are in a good position from the point of view that we have a solid core of younger players that can learn and get better together.

We just need a major injection of quality with a couple of star kids.

Just my opinion, but we need two years of raiding of the draft, this year and next year, and that's means two number 1 picks, and all the priority picks we can get!

Brock should definitely not be going anywhere, or any of our youngsters for that matter.

If the right deal comes along for an established player, then do it.

Time to build for the future.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
