Where are you now, Neale?

Hey, Rev, where are you now? Why don't you post on this board, telling us exactly what sort of future you were building for this club? By clinging onto players who had SOME currency value 3 or 4 years ago, (but worth nothing now!!) you have left Dean Bailey trying to build from the depths of (possibly) no return.

When older players leave next year we will have draft picks and extra cash to buy some big name players, if we are smart enough to do this that is

It's hardly the same. We could have secured, via trading for picks (or player(s)), some young guns - in terms of draft # at least - who would have had a reasonable amount of games under their belts by now.

Given that there are plenty of guys who are wrth of a delisting, the departure of any guys that 'jumbo returns' was referring to will just give us extra draft picks in the mid-late rounds.

we might get a first rounder for a Bruce type if we throw in our second round pick

Actually Neale's list of 2006 would have a gotten us a top four finish in 2006 if we hadn't lost twice to the wooden-spooners (or close) in Carlton. Which brings up the real flaw with Daniher.

Which is why I am waiting to see what Bailey does before slashing my wrists.

Bailey also had a chance last year to winnow our glut a third-tall defenders but did not. Contracts may have been a problem to some extent.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
