Assuming you have put in the link as your AVATAR, then you can try a 'hard' refresh, with CTRL-F5. Otherwise I would say you've just put the pic in the wrong place. You need to put the link/picture in using the 'Edit Avatar Settings' option in the My Controls menu.

Does anyone know what's going on with Avatar settings?

I'm trying to put a new picture in It's only a small picture, and has proper dimensions etc. but whenever i click on update avatar, it just takes me to an error page...

I had the same problem, in the end I just put in an HTML one referencing a google image search I think. Not perfect because I wanted to edit and crop the image to fit better. Quite frustrating

yeah I tried that but then kept getting this error message:

Sorry, but the URL you entered for your avatar was incorrectly formatted or the link is not valid.

Make sure you right click the picture, click properties, and use that link.
