Love this bit. our backline has been ordinary to say the least for years but with Bell, Frawley, Bartram, Rivers running around i think we can aim to have the best backline. Plus i have no idea of pettards tru position. I like him at half back running off his man. Time will tell

Nice. I rated Wellman when he played, and I rate the Dogs' defence. But then I said the same about Williams and the Swans' midfield.

wellman was like joel corey - just pencil him in for six brownlow votes a year... he used to zone of his oppenent and bloke the leads of neitz and lyon...

I also rate wellman - played intelligently in defence & think he will be better than Bomber Riley was for our guys in terms of defensive set up. Guess he may have played with DB?

P Williams is lucky still to be at MFC - presumably because he was on 2 year contract & he is only survivor from ND team (excluding the good Mark Williams - the Zebs coach who I am sure has at least 1 more year contracted with Zebs). I suspect financial limitations have alot to do with PW still being at MFC. He will need to show something next season! Hope his retention does not restrict DB's plans!

What d u think, shall we make him the forwardline coach now we've got him where we want him?

We will see how wellman goes, we could have done worse.

Would be excellent of him to discuss how backs play the forwards!

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
