Rugby Jumper application to AFL (do we get in 1st?)

After watching some of the world cup and having chats about the guys attire with a few people I had the thought that some of the technology implemented in rugby might also have application in AFL

What I am referring to specifically is the tight fitting "slippery" rugby jumpers.

The jumpers are designed to be tight to the body and made of slippery material. The result of this is that it is much harder to hold onto a tackle or get slung by the jumper.

I am not to sure how well the material breaths or if there AFL rules as to what material attire is meant to be but if it were practicle it could be a bit of an out of the box innovation. Even if it helps 3 or 4 tackles slip that might otherwise have stuck during a game it could just be a 1 or 2% that we could have for 1 season before anyone else catches on. thoughts?

the jumpers the wallabies are using are actually made of a material which ionizes the skin with a negative charge. this charge then filters back to within the body. apparently blood is drawn towards it meaning that blood flow to the capillaries is increased, and it is shown to give up to 4% increase (i believe).

more than just slippery material.

Fat lot of good all this technology in their jersey did for the wallabies! :o

apparently the jumper technology didnt teach Stirling to kick...

May have been a bit constricting around the collar.

Collingwood tried to so something like this last year...

They were knocked back by the AFL because of the slippery nature of the guersneys.

Slippery AFL guernseys would be a joke. In Rugby, you can tackle a player anywhere, short of a flat-out coathanger. The ideal tackle is around the legs or with a shoulder rising through the midriff. Since the first is illegal, and the second impractical, a slippery guernsey would make a mockery of the tackling in the game. Imagine Judd with a slippery guernsey on... the [censored] would be unstoppable.
