MFC survey

a survey was done of MFC supporters before the recent Carlton game at the MCG - a mate I was with was interviewed by a volunteer.

The questions were something like - name 3 words that you think of about MFC - if MFC was a car, what would it be?- what's the biggest ( I forget exactly) challenge or problem or significant issue for the club in the next few years.

If I was surveyed i think I would have said - heritage, proud, leaders

car would be Volvo - slow but safe ( bit like some of our older supporters)

overcome financial problems, which then would give us the funds to build a team and infrastructure.

This should prove interesting.

Reckon I'd say;

3 words; History, classy, proud.

What sort of car; A broken-down Aston Martin. We're a very classy arrangement, but we're in dire need of a tune-up.

The biggest challenge for the club is getting it's identity back. We need to instill a clear direction and culture around the club that everyone involved can live by, and be proud to do so. A strong culture is the backbone of alot of successful modern organisations, and Melbourne needs to embrace this. Currently we are rudderless.

3 words

Timid

Wilderness

Overdue

A little red MG with silver spoked wheels and leather trim steering wheel.

That volunteer wasn't Joeboy by any chance?

my 3 words: Frustrating, Inconsistent, Infuriating (at times)

what kind of car: a 1964 EH Holden (that hasn't been serviced in a long, long, long time)

biggest challenge- rebuilding the list into a disciplined, competitive, never-say-die, powerhouse during the next five years.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
