In hindsight, he clearly should not have played but if he didn't have to go through a fitness test, that is a disgrace. Always difficult to tell during a game, but I thought he actually strained or tore his groin during the second quarter rather than OP.

I don't agree with the retirement point though. I expect to be howled down but I think Yze still has a fair bit to offer as an impact player off the bench in the same manner that Geelong used Peter Riccardi. He has a lot of skill and flair that make him a difficult and dangerous match up in the forward line, particularly in bursts.

ok i spose i have no proof regarding OP, but remember a couple of weeks ago when it was rumoured rivers had OP? fagan came out and said no its not rivers, it was yze having the scans and he has a mild case nothing to worry about, milder than we thought. he hasnt played since, except for last night, when he came of with a groin injury. make of it what you will, to me he is prob suffering OP.

regarding the impacet thing, yes i agree with you that he has something to offer, but does he offer it at the expense of newton getting a game? at the expense of petterd getting on the ground? at the expense of an extra runner for rotations? at the expense of risking an injury if he is not 100% fit? i think he is either fit enough to pay or not. but seriously, a 29 y.o. with OP? how much could he offer next year?

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
