Seat saving

Is anyone aware of any kind of written rule or regulation regarding seat-saving?

We got there at about 10:45 this morning and sat in the MCC amongst a lot of seats with scarfs and umbrellas etc on them, and saw a lot of frusturated people... some of whom were pretty optimistic, strolling in at 1:45 looking for 3 or 4 seats together. One man, a Collingwood supporter no less, took an umbrella which was being used to save a seat and smacked it on the ground.

People should know that for a massive clash like this, they need to get there fairly early (ground level MCC filled up at about 12, 12:30). But surely there must be some sort of limitation on how many seats you can save, or something like that?

There is supposedly a policy in the MCC area that seat saving is permitted for a reasonable period of time to buy food or go to the toilet. But this is poorly enforced.

i think the rule states... u can save seats... if the same people have occupied the seats earlier...

u can not save seats for people who have not arrived...

i think thats how it works

but how can u tell if they have been or they havent...

just gotta get there early i guess

How about this: "You may save seats only for those in your immediate family or car group"

This would probably help to resolve the problem

It's a bit hard to enforce :P

u can not save seats, unless they are Demon supporters???

How about people harden the f up and get there early or sit in the outer. The ground holds 100000 for crying out loud.

Level 2 of the MCC is very good now. You turn up with whoever your going with - go up to a person with tickets, say "I'd like 3 seats next to each other" and you get handed 3 reserved seat tickets. Then you can wander off and do whatever with the knowledge you've got your seats all set and ready.

This has been happening at the MCC since before I was born, and I was born in the early 70's. The MCC traditionally gets full very quickly on big games because there are no resevered seats (except for the oldies section) and it's also tradition to grab a seat then go in and have lunch and a beer (or perhaps 4!) then come back out just before the game starts.

Great place to watch a game

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
