Footy Forum Match - Demonland V's Mighty Hawks

Featured Replies

Posted

Hi Guys,

There seems to be some interest from the guys at the Mighty Hawks forum as I was approached by one of their members last night requesting a possible game between Demonland/Demonology members.

I know we had such a great time against Saintsational in November '06 and it would be good if we can have another game.

From this fourm, who would be the best person to contact should we be interested in playing against them?

Thoughts and suggestions are very welcome.

I guess what we need are some dedicated blokes off here to organise something with them. I will let the Mighty Hawks forum member know that I've posted on here and am still awaiting a reply.

Rollo or Kid Robb are probably the best 2 to get in touch with, but some people might have club footy commitments or something like that.

"Rollo or Kid Robb are probably the best 2 to get in touch with"

It is an unusual time of the year, but I am always pleased to help with organising and sponsorship...

I will send out some emails and organise for people to post here...

"Kid Robb" - now there is a blast from the past !!

(and it's demonology's past not demonland's past)...

oxxx is showing his age (or is it the confusion of youth ??)

Yeah, I'm a bit old school & I don't frequent here as much as I used to, so I do forget some of the simple things.

Does DeeStorm still post "over there"?

"Does DeeStorm still post "over there"?"

not that I've noticed, mate, at least not under that name...

your heroics last game are remembered by some...

sending email to hards (aka Kid Robb) now...

Yeah I'm happy to help organise it, but if its a Sunday I may struggle as I work 4pm-midnight.

Also would hope that those who nominate to play actually turn up this time.....

Last game the only heroic thing that I did was bring a ring-in who didn't know how to handpass & had never seen - let alone play - a game of football before!! (Btw he's moved to NZ so I doubt he'll be able to make it)

I'm willing for you to give out my mobile no. via email for on-the-day cancellations only (if I give it to you), if that helps out controlling the numbers last minute so that we can try to avoid a repeat of last time.

oxxx, those are the heroics we remember !!

hards, I will seek out the opposition and post back on here...

if we play for the carl ditterich cup against saintsaitional, what should we call the cup versus the hawks - the "hudson/biffin trophy" ??

er...

how does one contact this potential opposition ??

I tried the hawks headquarters link, but there seems to be no way to communicate unless you are a member...

and no way to join !!

rolo im definitely interested again this time. cant guarantee with work commitments etc but will see what i can do. not sure if i can kick or handpass or run for that matter but if its a bit of fun im willing to give it a go.

can SOMEBODY please respond ??

Hi Rollo, I'll get back to the member who contacted me from Mighty Hawks and ask them to contact you direct if you like?

PM me your email details. Feel free to send me an email too. From what I was told the specific people from Mighty Hawks actually know of someone and have

made contact with someone from Demonland before regarding this. It will be good to get another one of these up and going.

It would be good to have numbers this time, I agree.

I have made contact with the member from Hawks forum it's {Mighty Hawks} not Hawks Headquarters, and am awaiting to hear back.

She will be sure to make contact with the right people at their forum and they will be intouch ASAP. Will keep you {Rollo/Hards} up to date.

hey, melbournefc...

just read the apology posted to you on demonology...

I had something to do with finding the pages to set the record straight...

I remember your game and have to say your 3 goals made a difference...

(like between winning and losing !!)

Thanks for setting them straight. I don't post too much on here on Demonology so easy for guys to be unsure who I really am.

3 goals were good, although would have loved to kick many more. Hopefully will get the chance against Hawks.

have sent the email, melbournefc...

will report on here...

Thanks Rollo. Just spoke with my friend who is about to post on Mighty Hawks.

Will reply back on here with what response she gets.

I'll be there if it's on! Love the sweet taste of beer from a premiership-shaped cup... (my avatar says it all!)

Just PM me the details whenever it gets confirmed and i'll be there with bells on!

Cheers,

Doggo

Hey Doggo! {how's it all going?}

Would be good if we could get most of the same blokes back for another run.

Rollo: Hopefully you would have recieved an email by now from the member from Mighty Hawks. My friend has posted on the board

and is awaiting a reply. As soon as I hear something, I'll post on here ASAP.

Going by what I read on their forum, sent to me by my friend, they are pretty keen and can get numbers no problem.

Hopefully they'll reply soon.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?
