Rnd 20, 2021 Marvel - Suns vs Demons

Ripley's moment....not quite our best team effort statistically this season by a smidgen.  Our best team score was Rnd 6 vs the Tigers where we laid down a 71.93

Tracc's best for the season beating his previous high of 5.125 in Rnd 6 against the Tigers &  Rnd 17 vs the Power but coudn't beat the power of Clarrymiester who had another outstanding match, at least for the first three quarters anyway.

Decent debut from Bowey with 12 effectives, 2 tackles and 4 intercepts.

BB posts his best game for the season just.  Out doing his 2.5 vs the Swans.

LJ's equal best game for the season matching his Rnd 6 score vs the Tigers.

River's fourth top 5 finish for the year!  Not bad from the young fella.

Weighted Average Scores up to & including Rnd 20, 2021 vs 2019

Tracc leaps two places into 2nd place for the first time this season (i think...would have to trawl back through the entries to be sure!).  Clarry still well clear.  Average team score (top 22) this season still tracking just shy of our 2018 average by 1.5% (69.52).

Rnd 21, 2021 Optus - Eagles vs Demons

Possibly ANB's best game (statistically) in the red & blue?  Let's take a look at some of his output...

12 Effectives running at 63% (about 1.5% higher than his average on a wet / greasy night), 1 contested mark (rarely takes any), 2 one percenters, 3 clearances, 2 Rebounds, 7 inside 50s, 8 tackles (5 inside 50!), 8 score involvements, 2 intercepts, 2 goals and 4 turnovers. 

A top 5 result from a second gamer Bowey!  Unfortunately Kozzie's worst game for the year by a big margin, aside from the clutch goal towards the end.  Gus's worst game (statistically) this season as well.

It should be noted that the Eagles had a huge experience advantage on Monday night making this away win quite impressive.  Average games West Coast 132 / Demons 87.  We had 8 rookies running around vs their 5.  They had 10 players with 150 games or more vs our 3.

The Top 5...

  • Meters Gained >  May 598, Harmes 515, Tracc 449, ANB 407, Lingers 374
  • Score Involvements >  Tracc 9, ANB 8, BB 6, Equal 3rd Harmes / Rivers & Gawn on 5
  • Tackles inside 50 > ANB 5!  Daylight after with five others, Harmes/LJ, Fritta, Melk & Spargo on 1 each
  • Clearance Kings > Clarry 9, Tracc 7, Gawn 5, ANB/Harmes/Sparrow & Bowey on 3 each.
  • Intercepts >  Rivers/Lever 10, Bowey 9, Petty 8 & May 6
  • Turnovers > Tracc 6 (not too bad) and a stack of others on 4 or less.  That's our best result on this in some time.

Thanks, Rusty.

Kozzie seemed to be running to the wrong places and trying too hard.  Would like to see more i50 tackles from him - i think this underscores his game when he does this, the rest happens.

Interesting list comparison:  Perhaps it showed up in that we have the legs and they ran out of puff and needed the lightning break.

Bottom 6 are a worry.Expect AVB to be at risk, and maybe sparrow.  Others have the runs on the board and Melksham may have done enough with his cameos and goals.

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
