Connor Idun

Featured Replies

Connor Idun has done key defensive jobs in the TAC cup for the Falcons and Vic Country over the last 2 years.  He also swung forward at times with some success.  He was selected at full back in the TAC team of the year.

He has a combine invite and will likely be taken later in the draft I would guess.

Connors playing height at the start if the year was 189 but he is more than that now.  He has a very strong build and could play senior footy straight away.

He is an excellent judge of the ball in flight and has excellent hands.  Has great agility and sideways movement and is a neat kick.  He also has great game sense and is a natural leader having captained the Falcons when Sam Walsh was absent.

Further to that he is a really humble, smart and respectful kid who will work hard and contribute to the culture of a football club.

I would not be at all surprised if Connor forged himself a very good to excellent career.  He would be ideally suited to the third tall defensive position.

His only knocks would be his pace in a straight line, and possibly a lack of height to play a true kpd spot but he might have grown a little more since I last saw him.

Disclaimer: I know Connor well and have coached him at local level.  I have watched him rise as a junior playing with my boys.  Having said that I am pretty objective, I think the kid has a lot of attributes, both physical and mental that will give him a big chance of being a good senior AFL footballer.

Was picked up last year by GWS at pick 61.  Makes his debut tomorrow.

After a [censored] week at work happy to consider recruiting job offers.

Like it.

Can you suggest another one or two for this year, Stretch?

Good luck to the kid.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
