His kick to TMac and his handball to Jones against the Cats were pure class - the handball in particular. He read the play, intercepted the ball b/n 2 Cats and fired out to Jones - amazing skill and power.

    Petracca's contribution is solid every week. His numbers don't make you stand up and take notice but his hard work is evident if you look hard enough. And his goal assists and body strength remain his main assets.

    Having said that, I wish he would take a game by the scruff of the neck, monster some oppositions, and high five the Dees faithful with his tongue hanging out after kicking 3 in a row, the third from the boundary with a left foot banana. He has got so much talent that is still to emerge. I hope it is tonight.

      One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
