Cordners - a great Demon family

Featured Replies

I've noticed that the winner of the Portsea Swim race yesterday was an N. Cordner of Hawthorn.

Does anyone know if he's related to the great Demon family that's produced three generations of Demon players including a Brownlow Medallist?

Yeh nick is his grandson i believe.

I barrack for the demons because of the Cordners, well because of one of them anyway.

The story goes that when my dad was a kid, he didn't tell me how old he was, but he had to go to see a dentist. When he got there the topic of football came up and the dentist mentioned that he was a VFL footballer, dad asked him which team he played for and the reply was 'Melbourne'. He must have made quite an impression on my father as he's been a die hard fan ever since, he even brainwash my sister and I when we were young. He also managed to talk some sense into my mum, who barracked for the blues before she met my dad. He's now 67.

I believe it was Donald Cordner, but I'm pretty sure dad got the story wrong as I thought he was just a normal doctor, not a dentist.
