Interesting comments by Collingwood's coach re the Time-On rules.  http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/wayne-siekman-calls-on-afl-to-change-afl-womens-timeon-rules-over-manipulation-fears/news-story/be71a44a3d3e42bcc105b02e8470dab9

Essentially, because there is no Time-On when points are scored this is open to manipulation. His example was that a team can run down the clock by taking as much time as they like after the opp kick a point.  And it is an extra advantage if that team is in front and kicking against the wind.  Brisbane seemed wise to this last Sunday and took 30 seconds after points to kick the ball in.

Hopefully the AFL change the rules but I doubt it will be in season.  In the meantime I hope our team is wise to this tactic

This is no different in using all the 30 sec when kicking for goal, then some players then pass it to another player who uses another 30 sec.

Great win by the team tonight! Always beautiful to get a win over those pricks...

I may be wrong, but did anyone else notice Meg grab her right hammy just before she lost balance and then got cleaned up?

This guy?!?!

My vision is impeccable

"Women’s football operations manager Debbie Lee said Downie, who suffered concussion during last Saturday night’s win over Collingwood at Ikon Park, had also ruptured her hamstring moments before being knocked out."

The one reason to hope Collingwood make the finals - the possibilitiy of beating them four times in a season.

The women's game has opened up a fun new kind of pre-season optimism!

Love this , would be a beautiful thing .

I am enjoying it at the moment but was not happy at half time, one thing i would like would be if our numbers were blue i don't like white numbers in a red back ( were not Sydney) same with the men, might just be me but just don't like it

I've just checked the Champion Data scores in the Hun and I was amazed to see that Collingwood's highest scorer was their ruckman, King with 150 points.

She scored this with 2 effective disposals, 0 marks, 1 clearance 3 tackles and 13 effective tap-outs.

How on earth does that give her 150 points, 2nd highest of all players?

Players of supercoach will know that an effective tap is one of the highest scoring acts. And 13 effective taps in 60 minutes is enormous - Max averaged that last season in 120 minutes, and he was far and away the highest in the comp.

I know an effective tap is 5 points for the mens game; but when you then factor in that the match is shorter, with fewer possessions overall, those taps would be worth even more than that, as the scores are scaled to a combined 3,300 across all players.

I was working my calculation on the 5 points per effective tap-out and forgot about the upscaling to 3,300 points; obvious when it's pointed out.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
