Where Does All the Money Go?

It isnt so much about when you play, it is about who you have home games against. The small Melbourne clubs generally only get home games against each other and interstate sides while the big ckubs get home games against each other far more. This makes it far easier for them to make money. Add to that the high profile TV slots and lufe all of a sudden gets a lot easier.

I say split the gate on every game 50/50 and things instantly get a lot fairer

I haven't had a chance to check but do you know how the Bulldogs draw looks this year? That would be a telling point, I thought the idea was after 17 rounds the ladder breaks into three groups of six, you play the other five teams in your group and that makes 22 games.

6 Friday night games and 2 Saturday night games smashes the "you have to perform to get good TV slots" theory. On 2014's form they deserved nothing.

They have been made to understand this year, hopefully it remains a precedent in years to come.

We use the word 'traditional' pretty loosely these days, don't we? I guess if we keep saying it long enough people will start to believe it.

Well it's becoming tradition unfortunately.

Carlton fans will realise how bad they actually are and the Tiges will again get an inflated opinion of where they sit.

For the rest of us we will get a false start to the season...

Your not suggesting Richmond would ever get ahead of themselves RJay?....anyone but them.

Imagine Tigers finished 5th and we snuck into 8th....Id be grabbing Hardtack and whoever else is from Sydney and flying down to watch Richmond bow out again in the first round.

Still doesn't help if you play GWS at the G and then in Sydney. Half of both of those games is very little. That theory works with EFC, Hawks, Carlton, Coll, Geel, Rich.

And when you play WCE that fill the ground with 90% members, the revenue available to be split diminishes considerably.

It would need to be revenue based on bums on seats regardless of membership status.

In terms of the GWS argument that all comesdown to who you play twice

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
