    So free agency ends late in the trade period? It is unbelievable to me that the AFL does this. That gives very little time for Melbourne to move pick 3 on and then try to shift any subsequent dominoes.

    yes agreed, i don't understand. in fact it is only 1 day. then presumably have to wait for afl decision.....maybe missing something?

    I think it was yesterday on the AFL site they said as of now they'll inform clubs of their compensation within 24 hours of losing a free agent, which is much better.
