It's all down to the coach and the all important make up of our 2014 midfield. If we have a good mixture of experience and talent, season 2014 may hold some surprises. Making the finals is pretty fanciful though. The eventual coach should never set the bar too low though. That has been a failing of Bailey and Neeld in the media arena. Anything must be seen to be possible from our coach and team next year.

Spot on. If we get a coach who can sell the vision then we should go hell for leather at Daisy Thomas as a free agent. Then try to extract Taylor Adams from GWS (I'd like Shiel but Adams seems more likely to move). Then start looking at mids who are coming off contract & start planting ideas with player managers. If we can get a decent mid via the PSD this thing can be turned around a lot quicker than most believe. A few big ifs but we have to start aiming high. Starting with the coach.

I love Nate Jones but I don't think we'll go anywhere while he's our best mid. We should be aiming to have him ranked about 4th in a heavily reinforced midfield. Within 2 years

couldn't agree more.

would he be the best midfield in any other team in the competition? i would strong doubt it.

but he's the sort of bloke you know will die trying, and he very well might be our 'heart & soul' player.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
