Melbourne's war chest

Featured Replies

If it helps get Caddy and Dawes I'd be happy but we have to make sure we don't throw all the draft picks getting them.

As for free agents who are all >26 I'd rather save the cash and wait a few years until we are top 4 or pushing top 4 and then have a go. I'd almost say Essendon are going too hard too early in getting Goddard except they really did need another midfielder.

What's happening?? the only player we have gotten is Shannon Byrnes who would have gone to anyone who would have given him a contact and said so in his demon interview. Melbourne keep asking for handouts but deliver nothing but an average player who would go ANYWHERE and they better take Viney and be active in the trade period otherwise its the bottom 4 again for us in 2013 it's time to climb the ladder

Early days still in this extended period of FA and trading. There's a lot of permutations and ground to cover to satisfy the needs of success starved Melbourne supporters. Playing the cards right in the interests of members is what is important.

It doesn't help that we are seen as a basket case by opposition players wanting a quick success route of looking elsewhere. The war chest or available funds under the TTP will be used when it matters. It could matter once compensation is handed out in the third week.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
