MFC injury update?

Featured Replies

Guys,

Great training reports.

In relation to injuries, we hear who is in the rehab group. Would be great if anyone can update us to how many weeks it will take for them to get back to full fitness.

Can anyone upfate us as to how long it will be until each rehab group member is back to full fitness?

Thanks in advance.

I will give it a try after speaking to a few players yesterday

Bartram - just managing the load

Grimes - same

Strauss - same

Davey - same

Evans - Rd 1 Casey

Spencer - two weeks

Jurrah - wrist just needs protecting

Jetta - one week before free from shoulder problem

Tapscott - do not want a recoccurence of last year by rushing back...caution..unknown

McKenzie - issue with Achilles.....a point he wore one of the white tops (main group was in blue or white) yesterday as if to say to staff he is ready to go - rest of Rehab group were in normal training tops

Williams - managing load trying not to break him, from amateur football

so sylvia's quad is all good? how about cooks hip?

Thanks Satyricon.

So it is really only Tappy and Jord that it is not so clear when they will commence. Other than that (and of course big Maxy) we are looking in pretty good shape for a full list to select from for round 1.

Sylvia did not train with full group, but didn't look proppy, Cook was with main group....Roh Bail yesterday seemed to feel something and he was straight off to the massage table they actually have out on the field in a marquee......so we seem to be ultra cautious..we are not in bad shape for Feb.....

thanks mate. Probably more accurate than any 'official' injury list the club puts on the website..

Let's hope with the new coaching and performance team we might get better injury info as the season proper starts.

I was at training yesterday and davey was still favouring his left leg (I think) at the end, though he was kicking with it earlier on.

When was the last time that we fielded a team that was picked from a fully healthy list? It looks like we could be doing that for Round 1 (with the exception of Gawn, of course, but I don't think he'd currently crack the best 22 anyway)

Round 1 is still a long way off GTG

There is still a min. of 5 games before round 1

Keep your fingers crossed

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
