Gary Ayres - coach?

Featured Replies

But you can't.

I don't think I could think of a worse ex-coach to go after though. Ayres is a hack.

Posted 11 August 2011 - 01:24 PMI have an intense dislike for Gary Ayres.

If he actually were to become coach of the dees, I'd seriously have a hard time supporting them.

Fortunately there's no chance of that happening

Couldnt agree more, Hated him as a player even more so as a coach

Hope you are right

Arrogance was his middle name as both

.

You bet i would go into Debt to get a coach like Mick Malthouse & his assistants to this club Rhino it's 2012 next year & Free Agency is right around the corner.

If we want players to stay at the MFC or to attract players to our club we gotta go out there NOW.

Get your old head out of the sand Precious Rhino or else there will not be an MFC in 5 years.

With you managing the debt I would give us no more than 3 years.

You work on finding those statements about MM being interested in coaching MFC. Cant wait.

OK you have said it now. You don't like him - intensely. So maybe your view is a little jaundiced.

Well I subscribe to Malthouse's theory that as a coach, if you're out of the game for 1 year, you're too far out of the loop.

That's partly my reasoning on Matthews too (also that he is not that astute tactically).

Don't ask for a link, because I can't remember where he said it.

Malthouse did say something like that but he is the master of obfuscation isn't he? It suits his purpose to say that.

He has also said he wants to continue coaching. So the two statements don't align do they given he has committed to the Pies next year (and contractually for the next 2 years).

You say you would believe Malthouse but we know that Malthouse broke his contract at the Weagles to come to Collingwood. So what he said I take with a grain of salt.

I don't subscribe to that theory just because Malthouse said it.

He just adds further weight to it.

His comments on continuing coaching, I believe, are genuine.

Breaking a contract is not lying - it's changing your mind.

I don't whether he has lied about other things anyway - who hasn't?

I believe that in spite of his contract situation he'd dearly like to continue coaching, at Collingwood if possible, and that he believes being out of the coaching game for a year would leave you too far behind to assume a head coaching role.

I happen to agree with him.

I'd prefers Lethals record over Malthouses bullsh&t .

Matthew should charge double whatever Malthouse gets .

Leigh probably makes plenty in the media .

Too much to help the Dees to a flag .As with Gary Lyon .

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
