Interesting story by Ashley Browne on the current official MFC website concerning AJ's amazing 1991( debut year ) effort of reaching 50 goals in only 9 games . He states "No player had made it to 50 career goals so quickly". I hope this is correct but i seem to remember reading that he SHARES this record with John Coleman. Anybody have the definitive answer?

I believe the great man was the quickest ever to 50 and tied with Coleman to 100

Yeah thats right - its made even more remarkable by the fact that in his first game he kicked no goals (MFC only scored 2 for the match I believe which was in Perth) and in his second game he either kicked 0 or 1 goal, which emans that in the enxt 7 games he kicked either 49 or 50 goals at an average of 7 per game.

I remember watching him at that time- he was freakish. Unfortunately he didn't have the mental toughness or discipline of his brother and just fade into oblivion.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
