Online community survey

Hi Demonlanders,

At the club we are looking at ways to better engage with our online communities across social media platforms, the club website and with forums such as Demonland and Demonology. In order for us to do this, we are seeking feedback on supporters' participation within these online forums.

We kindly ask you all to participate in the below survey that is being conducted in conjunction with Deakin University. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete, and results are completely anonymous.

Thanks for your support.

Great to see HQ getting involved to improve our online space!! Now for a big win on the weekend!

After completing the survey, I would actually be interested to hear from DemonsHQ just what it is they hope to get out of the results. To me it just seemed to be an exercise in profiling of the types of people that inhabit these and other (not necessarily sporting) forums and unless DemonsHQ intends to actively participate in these forums (or create a forum of their own), I honestly can't see how the results will be of any use at all.

Could DemonsHQ please explain here, the point of this exercise?

Hi hardtack,

Thanks for your query. The point of this survey was to gain an understanding of what motivates you (the fans) to participate in these online forums. By understanding why the fans are involved in these online communities, it will allow the club to develop more relevant and engaging online forums for the fans (on club sites such as Facebook).

Hope this helps answer your question.

Gotta say, as far as feedback goes, the survey was poorly worded, poorly structured and tedious to complete.

A bit of work needed there.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Kind of :-) But I doubt it will help much on Facebook as you will always have the troll element who live to cause disruption. I think I would rather see a Question and Answer section set up on here and (one day when they fix it) Demonology, where you guys (DemonsHQ) can have a presence and answer/discuss supporter issues as well as pass on club related information in a forum where it can be discussed - that would be advantageous to you as a gauge for acceptability of initiatives before they are fully implemented.

But thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment anyway.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
