Hi All, I have one ticket available to the Sean Wight celebration tonight at the Bentleigh Club, 7.00pm. Available to first taker in next 15 minutes (I'll have to leave then).

If someone has a late change of heart ask for Cathy D and come in and join us (bring $45 and something for Sean)

Ah bugger, I wanted to go, but didn't know anyone who wanted to attend. I searched the MFC website after it was sold out but couldn't find the page anymore. I didn't realise it was so soon.

If I had have been home I would have taken your offer W W...

It was a long shot dee-luded... A good turn up with CC doing a great job as MC. Jimeoin helped out but struggled with the role of quizmaster (or was that us who struggled with the accent!). Barass and Stu Spencer worked the audience well and were generous with their efforts to get around and meet the people (SS still cuts a fine figure on the dance floor). Cam was everywhere and he and Connols and Barass made huge contributions during the auctions. Jimmy came and spoke quietly about Sean and the challenges they both face. Sean arrived to a sustained standing ovation. He was was very emotional when he spoke about his love for Australia and the Club. Past players present included Neita, Riggers, Biz, Brian Stynes, Leoncelli, Browny, Hoppy, Stinga, Grints, Ted Carroll, and Robbie. Riv got up and handed over a contribution from current players. The whole night was made possible because of the efforts of several dedicated women, whose names escape me, but I thank them for making the evening an important and successful gathering of the MFC family.

I was privileged to be among the 300 friends, family, and team mates who supported Sean Wight at the Bentleigh Club last night. I am proud and honoured to be able to call him my friend.

Hope it was a great night, best wishes to a humble and courageous Demon.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
